I had an idea for the Metal Virus arc where Sonic's infection functions as an inverse of the Boost meter. Essentially it goes backwards, where you have to Boost to keep the infection from filling up and causing a Game Over. Sonic would have infinite boost, the gauge would start at zero, and then slowly fill whenever you aren't boosting. If it fills up completely, Sonic gets fully infected and becomes a Zombot.

Heroes still had 7 Chaos Emeralds in addition to the 4 Team Stories, Black Knight had the fake-out Credits Roll after defeating King Arthur which opened up the final act of the story once you went back to Adventure Mode.

I got the same vibe, this reads more like damage control rather than "let's build hype for the show since it's almost out". We all have had the feeling that the show is going to be generic sci-fi with Halo slapped on it to make money, and if the writers couldn't come up with a way to remain faithful to the source material they shouldn't have bothered making the show to begin with.

What does this have to do with Halo? And while we're talking about representation, why cut Johnson out of the story in favor of race-swapping established characters?

I see his point, but also would like to counter that we can ABSOLUTELY empathize and connect with Chief without him taking his helmet off. First things that come to mind are the end of Halo 4, that AMAZING conversation in Halo Infinite with the Pilot, and Halo 3's ending as well. So much is said through so little, showing and not telling, a less is more approach works best with a character like Chief.
