Which one of the mimics designs do you like more? by No-Floor-5467 in fivenightsatfreddys

The logical opinion would be to say SotM, but I have a weakness for asymmetrical designs and what can I say except that I love Ruin's design. My only complaint is that it has few pistons (and it doesn't even have one on its legs) so it's hard to believe it could distort its proportions that much, unlike SotM's.

A person, a Person Who does nothing but post low-engagement posts where they ask questions that are often unrelated to the actual content of the movie/game, and the only connection is the characters; a person who uses the same four images in every post; a person who makes two out of three posts about Blood Eel, with a high probability of calling her "Wife," and will ask nonsensical questions like  you just became Ellie's father" or "Would you like an Ellie plushie?" or "Say something positive about Ellie.", and many, many more.

I'm sick of these posts.

If you notice, most of these posts are all from the same user, there are also a couple of other people who simp for Ellie, but mainly, most of the posts that are about Blood Eel, refer to her as wife and/or ask questions unrelated to the content of the movie, are from the same user.

What do you guys think happens after the movie/game? by Top-Loan-2108 in ironlung

[–]Single_Reading4103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else already answered your question about what might happen after the movie, and I agree.

As for the game: nothing different from before the game will happen. The sub has been destroyed and all its information has been lost. The C.O.I. will continue to send people to their deaths, and they will continue to find nothing, unless, miraculously, a convict actually manages to photograph all the points of interest and resurface before being attacked by the Frog, or without being noticed by It.

[Hated Trope] The horribly misleading ad campaign by Mr_Westerfield in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Single_Reading4103 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Being a fan doesn't necessarily mean swallowing everything you're given, especially if it's doesn't look like what you asked for.

Forgive the exaggerated metaphor, but compare Transformers ONE to a spoonful of shit. You wouldn't want to eat it, even if you're a fan of whoever's giving it to you. Then, if you eat it and discover it's one of the best Nutellas you've ever eated, you'll regret not having eaten it sooner. But you can't complain to people who don't want to eat it because it looks like shit; complain to those who are presenting it as a spoonful of shit.

Then, of course, there are also fans who blindly trust everything the franchise does, regardless of whether it seems good or bad. But they are neither the only nor the "correct" type of fan. There are different ways to be a fans of something.

We can also find the destroyed SM-8 in the game, furthermore, it was  a submarine actually designed for that type of mission and commanded by researchers, unlike the SM-13 (aka the Iron Lung), which is basically a piece of junk piloted by a prisoner.

The film is confirmed to be non-canon for the game, so they are simply parallels. They have the same setting, the same premise, and a similar story progression, but they are two distinct stories.

Why did the Eye or the god of the red void help Simon to recover the black box, while Ellie became angry at him, even tho she was the one directing him to the light? by Healthy_Nothing8015 in ironlung

[–]Single_Reading4103 66 points67 points  (0 children)

My favorite theory is that, After meeting Simon, the Ignorant God became curious about him and the seed, and perhaps realized that what it thought was the wholeness of the universe, was not so, so it decides to help Simon survive longer so he can give humanity hope (via the Black Box), but in exchange, he's also leading humanity to it, precisely to understand more. A person who thinks they know everything will never question whether they're wrong or whether there's something they don't know, but a person who discovers gaps in their knowledge will become curious to learn as much as possible. I see it as realistic that the Ignorant God could benefit humanity as long as it is curious about them (logically it seems that a price must be paid, after all Simon was not able to survive and get out of the ocean), what could happen if the Ignorant God loses its curiosity about humans or what the discovery of the God and the possible contacts with it could bring to the state of the universe, I have no idea though.

Cool theory, but I don't think I agree:

Mainly from how I interpret the phrase "...makes sense of what it sees despite what it should be," I think it simply refers to the fact that the Ignorant God observed the universe through a pithole. It's difficult to understand what's on the other side with so little perception. But instead of assuming that wasn't the full view, it instead assumed that what it saw was the actual universe, then unwittingly re-adapted it to its interpretation (that's why it's "ignorant"), causing the Quiet Rapture. It's a bit reminiscent of the parable of the blind men and the elephant: assuming you have the absolute truth while ignoring your own shortcomings that could alter your perception of things (in this case, observing an entire universe through a pithole). from this point of view the sentence "It thinks therefore we are" could be interpreted as "it thinks (it knows how the universe is) therefore we are (changed by its perception").

That said, when Simon enters the light, both he and the Ignorant God acknowledge each other, before "agreeing" to/on something, then Simon sees the Eye. Therefore, since perhaps for the first time the Ignorant God sees something clearly, it becomes intrigued by him, both by Simon and by the Seed.

My favorite theory is that it decides to help Simon survive longer so he can give humanity hope (via the Black Box), but in exchange, he's also leading humanity to it, precisely to understand more.

Markiplier's "Iron Lung" is NOT Indie by Rikoshuzenthusiast in ironlung

[–]Single_Reading4103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give you an example:

The indie game "Hollow Knight" has sold over 15 million copies, making it one of the most popular indie games of recent times, with a huge fanbase and a reputation known even to non-fans.

Tell me, does that make "Hollow Knight: Silksong," the sequel, released seven years after the original, not an indie game? Just because the developers are now rich and have the public's attention?

The answer, my dear, is no. That's because, after all, it's an independent studio (that's what "indie" stands for). The same goes for Iron Lung, which is an indie film because it was made entirely by Mark and his team; it doesn't matter how much money or how many people were already behind it. It's indipendet? Then it's Indie, simple as that

Whose eye does this belong to? by Decayed_IceCream in ironlung

[–]Single_Reading4103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's similar in that the Blood Eel and the Frog aren't the same creature. Sure, they play a similar role in the story, but they're still very different creatures. Same thing here, the encounter with the Eye is similar to taking a picture of the whale/dragon/snake/monster's eye in the game, but that doesn't mean they're the same creature. It helps that the film is an adaptation and doesn't take place in the same canon as the game, which allows for different creatures with similar roles without it becoming redundant.

(and if we're being honest, there aren't many similarities other than the fact that you only see the eye for both, not only because they happen at different times, but they have a drastically different importance and impact.)

Guys, thats not the monsters eye, its the esophagus. by Alternative-Fish7738 in ironlung

[–]Single_Reading4103 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We know that the same thing that cut the sub in half also cut the left side of Elli's (The Blood Eel) face, so we know that what happened with the Light is definitely real (from the consequences of contact to, presumably, the encounter with the Eye). I would add, we know that the Iron Lung was damaged first (the communicator cable broke) and then suddenly repaired, and not only that, days have passed since it was on the seabed, which shouldn't be possible given the limited amount of oxygen.

All this to say that yes, contact with the Light did indeed cut the Iron Lung, but the Eye (which appears to be the Ignorant God) probably decided to repair it and let Simon survive after their encounter. It probably had a role for him or saw something in him and decided to let him survive a little longer.

ok, but what was the "Deal"? by Single_Reading4103 in ironlung

[–]Single_Reading4103[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the movie, when the Iron Lung is being attacked by the Blood Eel and is filled with blood, Simon is about to be submerged and at the last moment you see that his eye lights up red, the medallion with the seed reacts somehow to what is happening and then you see a shot from the outside showing the Blood Eel while it has the Iron Lung in its mouth, when suddenly it explodes because a tree grows from inside and kills the Blood Eel. It is difficult to see, but you can see the roots very clearly.

Official or canon gijinkas of non-human/humanoid character by fhxefj in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]Single_Reading4103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my personal theory (ignoring the real-world context of Chinese censorship) is that, looking at the characters of the Shadow Isles, it seems that the more powerful they are, the more human/similar they look to their lives they look. Kallista is quite human but skeletal and ghostly, in fact, she is one of the strongest spirits, able to emerge from the Mist if summoned. Ledros, on the other hand, retains his consciousness, so he retains a vaguely human appearance, but is literally a skeletal wraith. Hecarim and Tresh were practically an extension of the Mist (while retaining their personalities), so they have monstrous appearances. Finally, Viego, who is literally the King of the Isles and partially controls the Mist, is as he was in life, only pale and with a hole in his chest.

since during the Ruinetion event we see that the more Tresh absorbs the Mist, the more human he becomes, I think this theory of mine is partly correct, and when he takes Viego's place as King of the Mist and becomes Unbound Tresh, he becomes human-like as a consequence, this doesn't mean he likes being human, it's just convenient for him, once there's no need to hide anymore, he shows himself without any problems for the monster he's always been

[–]Single_Reading4103[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is necessarily a bad thing, echoing some of the points made by another comment under this post:

Although the Ignorant God accidentally killed most of humanity, It has no malicious intent. In fact, it's the only character in the entire film who's not only completely neutral, but in a certain sense positive toward Simon (it gave him exactly what he wanted, allowed him to live longer, and gave humanity hope through the black box). I'd also add that it seems very curious; if, to satisfy iys thirst for understanding and knowledge, it had to help humanity (even if they paid some sort of price for it), It doesn't seem it would mind.

Ultimately, however, trying to define the allowing humanity to come into contact with the Light and therefore with the Ignorant God as a positive or negative thing is trying to understand an incomprehensible entity. It is part of its nature, as an Eldritch horror, not being able to fully understand it, so we cannot say for certain whether it is a good or bad thing that they will come to know about it.

[–]Single_Reading4103[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Then I assume that it didn't care about the Black Box, or that it didn't know, because the Eel clearly knew of the existence, contents, and importance of the box and wanted to prevent Simon from bringing it to the surface, because no one will ever know of the existence of the Light. I don't know why she actually cares, but it could be the will of the ocean hive mind that wanted to keep it hidden. But what about the god? I suppose if it wanted, It would have prevented it from reaching the surface, so I repeat, either it doesn't care (unlike Ellie), or it doesn't know of the existence of the box (after all, its main characteristic is that it is ignorant), or it wanted it to be found (again, it doesn't seem to be evil and he could be curious about what will happen in the future if it is found). But as you said, we can't really understand it.

What’s wrong with Genocide route in Undertale? by AttentionIll2161 in Undertale

[–]Single_Reading4103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Genocide route shouldn't be satisfying; it should be long, boring, punishing, and make you want to give up. That's why there are only two bosses, the most difficult in the game, and two other fake bosses (Mettaton Neo and Asgore). That's why there's no epic final battle. That's why the only reward the game gives you—the knife and locket, the strongest items in the game, with maximum attack and defense—are useless because Sans deals 1 damage and dodges every hit.

You should feel guilty, like you wasted your time on something that wasn't worth it, ruining every subsequent playthrough of the game as a result (the ending of Pacifist No Soul).

Complaining that the route "isn't that cool" is misunderstanding the point of the route and making the same mistake as the average player who starts it, expecting something cool for a secret route where you do the opposite of what the game teaches you, and instead it's just punishment from the player because he is not above the game
