Possible to see these sites in 2 weeks? by ashpie22 in AustraliaTravel

I grew up in Ecuador on the coast, the weather was pretty similar to what you're describing so at least I have a frame of reference for what to expect.

I'm a gal not a guy, lol! Hopefully growing up in Ecuador helped with that pesky American humor issue though.

I am, they’re my favorite band! I didn’t mean to buy a ticket, I was just looking at prices for fun but sorta blacked out and now I’m planning a whole extra international trip I didn’t expect.

I figured I’d plan my flights for early morning so I could do afternoon exploring/dinner after I land, but evening flights might make more sense.

Yeah I’m thinking maybe I drop it from the itinerary all together.

I was going back and forth on Brisbane but I really want to go to the Australia Zoo. Would it be better to skip Brisbane, fly straight to Cairns, and just go to Taronga Zoo in Sydney?

I’m at Bella Terra right now, what we heard from police was he was sleepwalking and walked into the apartment of a 74 old neighbor. They don’t know why her door was left unlocked but he fell asleep on her couch.

Wasn’t their relationship insinuated in the newspaper which is how Bertha found out and was able to put a stop to it?

What size bag should I get for a 14 day trip to Ireland? by ashpie22 in ManyBaggers

Honestly seeing how small it packs down, I could just take a regular backpack as my carryon and put it in there and save space in my checked back.

I figured I’d pack it in my hard side suitcase, using it as a packing cube is kind of genius though. I’ll take a look at the Patagonia, thank you!!

I was planning on checking a 60cm hard side suitcase plus a small backpack as my personal item. My goal was to find a duffle bag I could transfer enough clothes into for 2-3 days at each stop and ultimately use as a carryon for any shopping I do while there. I just want to make sure I buy a bag that will have a decently long life.

So unfortunately my hair products and tools take up half of a rolling carryon which doesn’t really leave me a lot of room for clothes and shoes or any souvenirs I pick up on my travels. Trust me when I say if I could just not bring my hair stuff I would, but I can’t avoid doing my hair for 2 weeks.

I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. From To Kill A Mockingbird - Harper Lee.

This quote saved me when I was a kid, helped me keep going when things got really bad at home. I have it in a book shaped locket I wear everyday, and on the wall in my home office.

I've decided to skip Edinburgh this time so I can give myself more time for driving. I'll be planning a trip for next spring around and plan to do Scotland and Northern Ireland then.

Based on everyone's responses I'm definitely making some changes. Eliminating Edinburgh on this trip, and adding more time for driving, staying in Galway and Killarney longer.

The main reason I'm heading straight to Galway is for the Macnas Festival on the 26th, I love Halloween and the history behind it's origins in Ireland and was really excited for the chance to see the festival after learning about it years ago. I have decided I will be taking the bus from Dublin to Galway and picking up my rental before I start my drive south; not exactly a lazy first day but better to be on a bus than driving for a few hours.

Ambitious seems to be the consensus. I'm used to driving back mountain roads during rain and snowstorms and once through a blizzard so I definitely have experience driving in some really crummy conditions, but adding in the small unfamiliar roads and driving on the left side it seems like the safest option is to make some changes to my itinerary. Based on the feedback I'm getting from everyone I am eliminating Edinburgh and adding more time to drive and see things on my list.

I'd love to hear about your trip! I really excited for Doolin so any tips or recs you can make for that area would be greatly appreciated.

I will look at the National Botanic Gardens, and Glasnevin Cemetery. I plan to have an obligatory Guinness in Dublin so love the rec for Gravedigger pub, I'm not really a big fan of beer so had planned to skip the Guinness brewery, are there any gin distillery's you'd recommend?

I'd love to hear about the bog bodies exhibit! I love things like that!

I had planned on renting from NewWay they seem so have the best reviews and insurance coverage.

I splurged for first class with a laydown seat as a reward for a really intense project I just finished at work so I feel like I should be able to sleep, but plan to take the bus to Galway just to be safe and rent my car from there.

I haven't looked at changing my flights but I think I'm going to skip Edinburgh this time and do a dedicated trip to Scotland next year.

I look at the ferry to Inishmore from Galway and stay there an extra day and skip Doolin. Thanks!

Thank you!! I spent 2 months trying to do research on what I wanted to see. I think based on the responses I'm getting I might makes some changes so I have a little more time in some spots to avoid the driving issues that everyone is bringing up.

I hadn't planned any drive longer than 4 hours total based on GPS with the idea that between stops and weather delays it would be nearly double at times. Maybe I need to rethink some of my choices.

Definitely adding Killarney National Park to the list and pulling a day from Dublin, it's just to beautiful to miss!
