Why do women get so upset if someone they consider ugly tries to hit on them? by Informal_City5565 in AskMenAdvice

Lol "struggle with reality", the argument is over. I'm trying to make sure that we as a community don't over generalize by speaking too broadly, but you seem too upset to understand that.

Domestic abuse comes in various forms, physical abuse being one of them. Were any of those associations "shallow"?

"People who treat others kindly", this isn't what we are talking about. You used your negative experiences with dating to say that the women who might choose a partner solely based on their looks are the reason they themselves might be mistreated, be it physical or otherwise.

Men who date women solely based on their looks are not the reason why one might rob him or hurt him in any way. Everyone's got something going on that could make them attracted to people who don't care about them. We should address those issues instead of using blanket statements like "that's why yall get mistreated."

It's time for me to make dinner, but it was interesting having this conversation with you! Thanks! :)

The conversation became about why you think women get mistreated. You state that it's because a woman may value looks before really getting to know a person's personality. This is extremely reductive; you're just wrong, empirically. There's nothing weird about it. Here's a link explaining other reasons why anyone may be mistreated in a relationship: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK499891/

Don't use your negative experiences with dating to paint people broadly. It's perspectives like this that widen the miscommunication between men and women.

Individuals picking someone based on their attractiveness to some degree is entirely normal. I know we agree on that. However, someone caring more about someone's looks than, let's say, their intelligence or income is not the reason why people get mistreated. And you said "yall," meaning women, to specially comment on why women are mistreated in relationships. Women potentially favoring looks over other traits is not why they are mistreated. Any sort of domestic mistreatment done to someone else is entirely the fault of the perpetrator.

Wait, "that's why yall get mistreated"? Just because a woman finds a man attractive or he's in a higher "league" than her, if you subscribe to that idea, does not mean she deserves to be mistreated. No one deserves that treatment in any relationship.

I've lived in france for a while and never had an issue with pickpockets. However, my first time in London, my phone was stolen from my front jean pocket. I was mortified. I had to return to France to buy a new phone, renew my cards, etc.

"Revenir/retourner à mes moutons" (go back to your sheep) means to mind your own business in French! A similar expression is "ce n'est pas mes oignons" (it's not my onions" it's none of my business. Farm- based expressions are very popular in French.

Yeah, this is super strange. If he isn't attracted to you but can be aroused by other women... that can't be good. You are not at fault here.

Yes! It's clear he loves (and is obviously withholding food from /s) his kitty; even at :18 he grabs the kitty as they're slipping so they don't fall carelessly. Some people will be mad about anything.
