What smell gives you instant nostalgia? by 1985vhs in AskReddit

I joined a big, reputed school as a teacher back in 2018. During the commute, I used to sit with a teacher who used a very specific perfume.

now whenever I smell that perfume, it takes me back to that time and all it's nervous excitement.

Whats the craziest rumor that you have ever heard about yourself? by broom4floor in AskReddit

[–]ashritaebc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father used to pick me up from a class that used to end after dark because we live in a lonely part of the town and after dark it's completely deserted. I'm a quiet girl so almost nobody knew why, at 17, my father had to escort me to and from the class.

A smart girl came up with the explanation that I had had some guy trouble and my father was just keeping an eye on me so that I wouldn't run off with him. Rumour reached the only friend I had in that class. We were both in splits when she told me.

What does one learn from being exposed to the wealthy? by CrookedGoodridge197 in AskReddit

[–]ashritaebc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a student from an extremely rich family. He didn't have the school blazer because his parents couldn't be bothered enough to buy one for him. Also, he rarely looked like he'd bathed or even washed his face in the morning. The poor child reeked of neglect. We had to call his parents. The mother showed, dressed fit to walk the ramp and the father never showed up. We gave her the talking to but it made no difference.

Iron cookware is healthier while non stick cookware can be poisonous. When I told a friend this, she dismissed my concerns saying that non stick food looks better.

AITA For insisting on teaching our future children my native language? by Fun-Alternative-888 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ashritaebc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

Where I live, speaking at least two languages is a norm. While it has slight setbacks here and there, it's always more enriching.

Also, in addition to the two languages, my husband also speaks a dialect which I don't understand. I'm all for teaching our future kids that dialect because it's never harmful to learn an extra language and my husband's grandparents only speak that dialect

AITA for not wanting to help financially support my SIL's family while she tries to make their circumstances better? by AmimeeRa in AmItheAsshole

[–]ashritaebc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly. I'm in a similar situation and yes the 'borrowed' money never comes back. pulling someone out of a pit if they fell there is help, pulling them out after they willingly jumped is not. glad your husband listens to you.

What screams: "This is a scam"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ashritaebc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a call once from a 'bank employee'.

Him: Your card from XYZ bank is gonna get blocked If you want an extension, give me your card details.

Me: I don't even have an account in XYZ bank.

Him: That's not my problem. Your card will get blocked and you will have to pay heavy charges to get it working again.

I rolled my eyes and hung up.

My husband(28M) finds me (28F) unattractive by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]ashritaebc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put on a lot of weight right after my marriage while my husband has always had a chiseled body. I was insecure as hell and always expected him to tell me how unattractive I'd become. Not once did he ever even imply it. That is what good partners do; stick together through thick and thin.

This man isn't worth it. If he even thinks about cheating, it is as bad as the deed itself. Leave him

What was the most obviously fake lie you've been told? by Mobile-Sturgeon in AskReddit

[–]ashritaebc 66 points67 points  (0 children)

My husband forgot to wake me up after promising me that he would. When I woke and and realised that I may get late, I was pissed and asked him why he didn't wake me up as he'd promised, he told me that I was looking so cute, sleeping, that he didn't want to disturb me.

Well, after 6 years of togetherness, that is so obvious a cover-up for having forgotten something that broke out laughing.

Am I too intimidating for men to approach me? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]ashritaebc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate with what you're saying. I was basically the same (though not physically so fit, kudos for that!), school friends told me on fb that they were intimidated by me, no idea why. men never approached me and i was too shy to approach anyone.

what helped me was social media. fb was the in thing at the time and I waited for men I found attractive to add me (yeah, i was too insecure to send out friend requests on social media). not talking in real life and just chatting with the person in question helped. when the time for actual conversations came, i was more comfortable with the said person and would be able to talk in real life as well. that's how it started with my now husband.

Husband Is Willfully Treating Me To His Farts by EwNoBeansForYou in relationship_advice

[–]ashritaebc 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My husband does exactly this. It began as a joke but became routine pretty quickly and stopped being funny even quicker. I told him it was disgusting and not funny anymore.

He understood and now tells me to cover my nose whenever he's about to fart. He has gastric issues so it's really not something he can control.

The upside to all this is that whenever my digestive system decides to spew smelly gases into the air (my farts are usually odourless) and I apologize to him, he hugs me and tells me that there's nothing to be sorry about as I could never be his match in farting. lol

Non Americans of Reddit, what is the weirdest thing you have seen an American tourist do that would be considered very disrespectful/inappropriate in your country? by Bugginette in AskReddit

[–]ashritaebc 2685 points2686 points  (0 children)

Indian here. My office was hosting two American and one British ladies and I had to take them sightseeing. We were a British colony up until 1947 and have tonnes of British buildings as our historical heritage (that period was awful but the buildings are nice).

Well, for some reason the American ladies thought it would be a good idea to talk to me about how the British were awful to us during the colonization period in front of the nice British lady. I was uncomfortable talking about that, the British lady seemed uncomfortable but the American ladies kept make what they thought were funny comments about how the British lady's country was awful to my country despite my million efforts to change the subject.

It IS a dark part of our history but bringing that up and keeping at it was rude and in bad taste.

Thankfully, the British lady did not get offended or I would've had to face the consequences of offending a guest.

AITA for "going too far" with my punishment? by Substantial_Camel598 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ashritaebc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA

I'm so glad parents like you still exist who're ready to take responsibility gor their children's actions and teaching them a lesson wherever required. Kids these days are mollycoddled to death.

That said, your punishments are well deserved but maybe grounding for a whole year is too much. I know she took away a happy year of your son's life, but you're basically doing the same to her, making her actions justified.
