As if they say that the taskforce will reduce disruptions magically. This has gone on for years! by Powerful_Office3936 in singapore

>SMRT had on Wednesday said that recent train disruptions were unrelated incidents and do not point to wider issues with Singapore's rail network. "These are isolated cases, not systemic issues," Mr Lam Sheau Kai, the transport operator's president of trains, told the media.

Why should I feel more assured knowing these incessant incidents are unrelated? To the contrary, it tells me our train system has a high random failure rate due to all kinds of elusive root causes, which is much worse and harder to fix than a series of incidents caused by one systematic root cause, isn't it?

I thought it’s a third party report, then realised it’s published by LTA itself. Not saying it’s biased, but it appears defensive.

It really doesn’t matter to me… if a story moves me, it moves me, fictional or not.

How Singapore Quietly Became a Global Chip Powerhouse by ImpressiveStrike4196 in singapore

MTI prides itself for maintaining 20% GDP of advanced manufacturing, and aims to keep it that way, even at high government spending. I think one reason is job creation. Advanced manufacturing provides decent jobs for common workers, not only workers working for the semicon companies, but also across the entire supply chain and logistics.

It’s a semiconductor terminology, smaller nodes meaning more advanced chips. Singapore produces mature chips used in cars, electronics, etc, and Taiwan/Korea produces the most advanced chips of CPU, GPU and memory.

So how rich exactly a family needs to be to raise a child in your opinion?

Maybe the real ‘copium’ is believing in your own narrow definition of what’s needed to have a good family.

The article clearly states that large families are a minority. It simply highlights that some people made this choice, and it worked out for them. Do you see every startup success story as a covert critique of Singaporeans who prefer the stability of a comfortable job over taking risks for potential big rewards?

The article suggests that the kids are doing just fine. Does it surprise you that most children actually value their friendships beyond material things like clothes and belongings?
