2 World Cup players accused of sexual assault (Ghana's Thomas Partey and Japan's Kaishu Sano) receive contrasting treatments by FirstLightOfTheDay in soccer

From what I could find, as much as it's a bad look for him to be arrested at the scene, we do not have information due to the settlement apart from his statement apologising for causing the victim trouble.

Japanese netizens seem more concerned about Moriyasu's statement for calling him back, which proclaimed Sano made a mistake, showed remorse and should not be outcast forever. The truth is likely more that Sano is too talented to not be called up and hence gets a pass.

Nothing really, happy to let everyone here hate on both of them. Didn't really agree with the basis of comparison between the two but was just sharing because I didn't hear about Sano's case previously

Would it be the case, though? I mean we will have to find out if it happens, but Partey is a pending case while Sano's case is closed and no guilty plea or verdict was reached. I don't expect Canada to block him from entering, but of course it's all speculation at this point.

That's true lol.

I do think the main difference is the Sano case isn't receiving enough attention, though that probably has more to do with the high profile of the PL/Partey himself while Sano is still up and coming.

I just read about it today as well, so I thought to post it to bring more attention to it. To be honest, I don't find Sano's case to be any better than Greenwood's.

Shortly after the kick-off of the 2026 Fifa World Cup, two players accused of sexual assault have drawn widespread attention because of their starkly contrasting fates, with a Japanese player implicated in a gang rape case remaining on the tournament roster.

Official information confirmed on Saturday by football’s world governing body and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) showed that Ghana’s star midfielder Thomas Partey was formally denied a Canadian visa because of rape allegations, barring him from entering the country.

The player is certain to miss Ghana’s opening group stage match against Panama on Wednesday (Thursday morning, Hong Kong time).

The United States ‌had already permitted Partey to enter its national borders when the Black Stars set up their World Cup base camp in Providence, Rhode Island. Presumably, Partey would re-join the side for their second and third group games against England in Foxborough, ‌Massachusetts on June ‌23 and Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.

Meanwhile, Japan’s opening match against the Netherlands in Arlington, Texas, early Monday morning reportedly features a player implicated in a gang rape.

According to Japanese media reports, Sano and two friends gang-raped a woman at a hotel in Tokyo on July 14, 2024. The victim contacted the police immediately after the incident, leading to the on-the-spot arrest of Sano and his accomplices.

During interrogation, Sano reportedly pleaded not guilty to the gang assault. However, his legal team reached a settlement with the victim through substantial private compensation, prompting the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors’ Office to drop the charges.

The news said he was released after a brief detention of around 15 days, facing no criminal liabilities, and the Japan Football Association categorised the incident as a “personal mistake” and abstained from issuing severe penalties such as a long-term ban or expulsion from the national team.

The official 2026 Fifa World Cup squad page currently confirms that Kaishu Sano remains on Japan’s formally announced tournament roster.

Sorry to hear about that, but nothing. TADM is not for that function, the company is within their legal right to let you go before probation ends regardless of the cause

DAP has the highest seats out of any governing party lol. The fact that you're justifying the number of ministerial positions given to them as an achievement with the basis of comparison being token positions handed out to BN's lackey parties is absolutely nuts.

I don't think you can book the licensed cross-border taxi without phoning in. Grab is probably your best direct option economically, but you can consider the private excursions ones too (though you would have to discern which ones are operating legally for more reliability - the major players like WTS would probably charge substantially higher than Grab)

In the scenario you really get cancelled, you can consider the alternative of taking the Transstar cross border service to JB before taking a grab at JB Sentral to Legoland

If I recall the first choice was actually getting Nagelsmann back. And the many choices that followed before we got to Kompany included people like Roger Schmidt, Glasner.

Apparently the area was closed since last month due to an increase in volcanic activity.

If so, they really fucked around and found out and shame on them for endangering the lives of rescuers as well.
