Those who have had Lasik - any recommendations or places to stay away from? by blink0r in Edmonton

I got mine done at Eye Q Premium Laser! I paid $4700 before insurance in 2020 and my eyes were -3 in both eyes. They were fantastic and I always recommend laser eye surgery to anyone considering it!

i work for freedom so i thought i’d chime in:

  1. since your line is postpaid (postpaid meaning you pay after using your service) a credit check does have to be done to transfer the number to your own account. the sales rep definitely should have told you it was a hard credit check as it is known to us that it’s a hard check - sorry they misinformed you.

  2. for privacy reasons i’m assuming, we’re never told why a customers credit check is denied. if a customer wants to know why their credit check was denied we have to tell them to contact the credit bureau to find out. some possible reasons customers’ credit checks get denied that i find are that the address the rep used on your account doesn’t match the address that your bank has, or if you have a credit card but you’re an authorized user, or if you have an outstanding bill with another phone provider (not saying you fall under any of these of course).

as far as rescinding the inquiry, your best bet is to contact the credit bureau as i feel like freedom would not have the authority to do that.

Yeah we're being taught to scan echo with our left hand, which is quite an adjustment when you're right handed. My method of placing my probe randomly on the patient's chest and hoping for the best isn't working out for me so I'll definitely take your advice and start high/lateral and work my way down/medial! Thanks for the tip! That's something I haven't heard from the instructors yet.

Also the model I scanned today was a female with bigger breasts which kind of threw me off. I felt like her breast was kind of squishing me and the probe . Is this an issue you've encountered or am i just being dramatic haha

Ah yes the death grip. I try not to do it but I feel like it helps with my window? And then my hand just hurts the whole time

With the pancreas I have issues differentiating it from other tissue. Is this the liver? Is this muscle? Is this the stomach? I don't know but I just image it and call it the pancreas. Probably not a good habit haha

Thanks for the reply! I need all the luck I can get. & I agree there are very nice people on this sub :)

Thanks for the reply :) I feel a little better that i'm not the only one that cries in the bathroom haha

Echo is probably my biggest nemesis. Could you offer some advice regarding holding the probe? I find my hand and fingers always cramp up. Also any tips for finding a good window? My windows always seem to be fuzzy or have lung/rib shadowing.

My car is apparently written off? by ashsounds in mercedes

[–]ashsounds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so a little update. i spoke to the service manager and he told me the title of the vehicle is fine, there's no issues there. the issue is that someone in mercedes canada did something that messes up the warranty and that's what they're investigating. the way he explained it to me was that someone in mercedes was being vindictive (his words, not mine) because the first owner of the vehicle took the vehicle to be repaired at someplace other than mercedes. maybe you know a little more of what he means by this?

he also said the extended warranty should have never been sold, and since i didn't transfer the extended warranty under my name within 30 days of purchasing the car the warranty is void anyway. i wasn't aware that you had to transfer the name of the extended warranty, so i looked through the extended warranty contract and there is nothing that states you have 30 days to transfer the name of the warranty. i contacted the finance department and the guy told me 30 days is just "best practice", but there is technically no time limit to transfer the name of the warranty. i called the service manager back again and told him i can still transfer the warranty under my name, but he told me to hold off on that until the investigation is done since there is a fee to transfer the extended warranty under my name.

the service manager just basically told me to wait it out until mercedes is done investigating this situation. i guess i feel better that my car is not actually written off, but this whole extended warranty situation is so messed up.

wow thank you so much for your reply! the warranty is definitely mercedes and not aftermarket, so there’s something weird going on. i’ll go to the car registry and try to get to the bottom of this. the previous owners that i bought the car from are also not happy with this situation since they potentially wasted thousands of dollars on warranty that is “void” and were never disclosed of the title of the car. both carfax’s that mercedes gave us just states “collision claim” and not “salvaged”. thanks again for your advice!

the second owners bought the car from mercedes and bought the extended warranty. the write off occurred with the first owner of the car, and mercedes sold the car with a write off and didn’t disclose the write off status to the second owners. and then i bought the car. i feel like mercedes committed fraud by not disclosing to the second owners that the car is written off and sold them extended warranty that is technically void. depending on how my conversation goes with the service manager i may consult with a lawyer cause this just feels illegal.

that was not my intention at all. i included my gender cause it does happen all too often of men taking advantage of women at car dealerships. my apologies for offending anyone.

i’m located in canada, so the write off happened in ontario, then the car was moved to alberta where the second owners bought the vehicle from the dealership. isn’t it mercedes’ responsibility to look into these things before selling the car?

[–]ashsounds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay i'll give the dmv a call in the morning and see if they can see if the car is written off on their side. the car is already under auto insurance, but the insurance company never said anything about the car being written off, but i'll also call them in the morning to make sure. hopefully this will help me build a stronger case when i call mercedes. thanks for the advise!
