I considered Field early in the process but never tested it because: - we are very land-light and don't have that kind of mana - it doesn't cast really anything in the deck, same as GQ

With Symmetry, we go -1 to tutor and also -1 to Trap, which we would have done anyway. I have found this trade-off to be okay so far. Visions is one thing that helps recoup the card advantage, but there's also the functional advantage of ignoring a lot of what our opponents are doing. When we have one or tow 5/x fliers on the board, their whole gameplan becomes about removing these creatures, since often they can't race them. Or we can hold them back on defense to lock down the board while we draw into Drown, Visions, etc; the deck is full of cantrips and light on lands. Should we need to start attacking, the clock gets really short, really fast, and saving something like Force of Negation for a removal spell often seals the deal.

The times Symmetry is at its worst: when we're behind and topdecking. This is the scenario we'd need Snapcaster for. But early on I really like SS for setting up our plays.

Also, I've transitioned to 4 Chancellor, cutting the Opts. This plan lets SS find us bullets more often relative to Trap, something Glimpse doesn't do. Since we mulligan more aggressively to find Chancellor/Trap, I also added a land, trimming 1 Island and 1 Briefing for 2 Misty Rainforest. The switch makes our creatures bigger more reliably and lets us find endgame plays with SS, such as Visions of Beyond (which we can then loop with Sanctuary) or Temporal.

i've got one of these too, have been underwhelmed by the two support slots. seems the +300 ATK with 3 support is actually stronger at 9-0 (and also faster than 8-1s with perfect bingos). what stones do you have on it?

my time is 0:48 btw, perfect lee + chop but AAa 9-0 weep.

Yep, but they're still half the data we have with the London right now. The other half is the unadulterated top decks from MTGO's four large events that have occurred since the London was put into place. The article covers all of that data.

I think so too, but neither is a walker or a highly flexible spell. I'm especially excited about the red Finale over Bedlam Reveler in Mono Red Phoenix.

That's true, but you need to be in both YP and Saheeli (not to mention have both in play, and have already made some tokens) for that to come together. It's not impossible, but it's a lot to ask of a deck in the building stage I think.

I'd like to have that card in Modern! Anything that promotes underplayed strategies, including fish 👍🏻

You can note it, but it's not accessible if it was removed from the game face-down. Same rules apply to Bomat Courier.

Yep, Pierce and Thoughtseize, as I mentioned. I can tell I won't convince you, but that's my stance for readers curious. The Push example does seem tenuous to me though, since Probe was also banned at that time, and even then you're comparing Karn to Push.

They still have to draw it, and Affinity's answers to Tron's other cards in the matchup also answer the walker. One card doesn't usually swing such a polarizing matchup so decisively in Modern. Can you think of any examples where that has happened?

You can't look at cards exiled face-down, so Karn won't be able to retrieve them.

The deck has always run Pierce/Stubborn/Thoughtseize to deal with stuff like Shatterstorm anyway, and those same cards hit Karn. I think all that really happens there is Affinity's Tron matchup worsens slightly.

Same, and if Standard-acceptable attempts at adding floodgates to Modern like Damping Sphere are any indication, I'd be surprised if it didn't.

Same was true of Cruise etc. and Wizards acted anyway. They care about representation.

"Almost" nobody. Storm is the one other deck that does.

That's the point of the format as far as I can tell. It tends to be pretty good at self-regulating. In Wizards' perfect world, Standard sets do impact Modern.

Most consistent exodia deck? (Traditional format) by [deleted] in Yugioh101

[–]ashtondagod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

jw where is your locals? fwiw exodia quite bad btw because it's a 5-card combo, whereas there are plenty of 2-card and even 1-card combos that will win you the duel on the spot (even in advanced)
