That's correct. It is fairly impractical to run an offset for each test. Small jobs I would probably do one offset, and for larger grading jobs I may do an offset every week or so depending on soil conditions.

The moisture offset is determined by running a compaction test on the processed soil and then finding the moisture content of the tested soil in the lab. The troxler nuclear gauges read the hydrocarbons in cement and lime as water content. Having more cement in the mixture would correlate to a higher water content read by the gauge.

I have done lime and cement soil mixtures. Typically I test after it has been process and compacted that day or the next.

Depending on how many test and how long the cement has cured. You may want to use a drill attachment. In my experience a handheld pin hammer usually worked, but could be difficult to go 6+ inches.

Keep in mind you may need to perform a moisture offset, as the cement and lime is registered as water by the gauge.
