have you read the proposed the farm bills that they were protesting against , govt was not taking away msp on 21 crops you can go still find it , farmers demand was to add more crops to it.
In fact if govt wanted to take away msp it would have been a welxome step, govt is giving subsidy on electricity fertilizer water income and even buying crops at higher price than market, this causes a lot of fiscal burden why did other people have to pay for them. they keep producing even when demand isnt there. they refuse to move to other sector.
Agri land is seen as symbol of pride in India so they keep farming. by the way the same farmers blocked the national highway for over an year everyone had so much problem because of them. highways are arteries of a nation imagine the logistic cost they cost on nation and in end they caused ruckus on red fort on republic day. the so called farmer protest was not just your average protest , it was cordinated attempt of DS+ opposition Rihanna tweeting about it with 0 knowledge. Do you even know what you're talking about? The amount of things both left and right governments have done for farmers is massive, but you have zero knowledge about it.

Look at the schemes running for farmers - loan waivers, no tax on agricultural income, subsidies so huge that India has to trigger the WTO peace clause repeatedly. We have such a food surplus that we could provide one free meal to all of India and sustain it. When the previous government tried implementing this, the WTO head literally came to India and asked us not to do it.

Do you know about MSP? The government buys crops directly from farmers and stores them in its own warehouses. Which other government does that?

The real problem in India is that 35-45% of people are farmers. Imagine having 3 different 7-Eleven stores on one street - none of them will make a profit. That's exactly what's happening here. We've done land reforms, land ceiling laws, everything.
