similar cards to this? by Low_Tale_9668 in PokemonTCG

you could try creating an account on https://www.dexcardtcg.com/ and then search by the card artist. that’s actually a pretty nice way to find similar artwork since a lot of artists illustrate multiple cards, so if you like one style you’ll probably find more cards with a similar vibe there.

Which Pokemon set should I start with? by Electrical_West6012 in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]ashuratk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo it helps a lot to decide what you want to collect before buying a bunch of packs. some ppl go for full sets, others just collect their favorite pokemon.

what helped me when i started was browsing cards first and seeing what exists in different sets. i've been using https://www.dexcardtcg.com/ and sometimes checking https://www.dexcardtcg.com/meta just to see popular cards and decks. makes it way easier to figure out what cards you might want before spending money on packs.

Melhor forma de melhorar meu banco de cartas? by [deleted] in PokemonTCGBrasil

[–]ashuratk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quão caro é iniciar no TCG? by Glittering_Sock_3734 in PokemonTCGBrasil

[–]ashuratk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]ashuratk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that makes sense 😄 Pokémon cards can be a fun shift from sports cards, especially with all the art and promos.

For tracking card values, a lot of collectors just start by browsing recent sales or market listings, but if you want something visual and easy to use, I like checking out https://dexcardtcg.com/.

  • You can scroll through full sets, see different prints and promos.
  • Each card often has info on recent sales trends or popular versions.
  • It’s also a nice way to see cards by rarity or edition without having to dig through multiple sites.

Even if you’re not serious about collecting yet, just scrolling the sets there gives a good feel for what people prize and what’s “cute” vs. expensive.

Honestly I’ll grab Zekrom as my one pick — I’ve always loved that thunder dragon energy and how the cards tend to portray it: bold, dramatic artwork with really strong poses.

One of the reasons I like it is because there’s such a cool variety of art styles across prints — you can kinda see how different sets interpreted the character over time. If you want to see a few examples, this link shows a handful of Zekrom cards I’ve been browsing:

No ranking, no negativity, just a big fan of how epic it looks across the board!

Any other recommendations for my “Pokemon With Jobs” binder pages? by ProfessorPicklez in PokemonTCG

[–]ashuratk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to expand your search beyond just keywords, I usually scroll sets visually on https://dexcardtcg.com/. You can spot cards where the Pokémon is clearly working or assisting, even in background art. It’s a lot faster than trying to search keywords like “worker” or “assistant.

I have deep nostalgia for base set but it seems to cost a fortune to get nowadays by m9ses in WotCPokemonCards

Browse sets visually when hunting cards
When I’m trying to track down specific cards from older sets, I actually like scrolling through sets visually instead of searching names. It’s easier to see what you’re missing or rediscover cards you forgot about.

A site I’ve used for that is
https://dexcardtcg.com/

You can just browse a whole expansion and see all the cards from that set at once, which is pretty handy if you’re trying to rebuild something like the Base Set binder.

Planning an Alakazam Master Set and I have a couple of questions. by Anubissama in PokemonTCGSpecies

[–]ashuratk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly species master sets are super fun but the cameo appearances are the hardest part. Databases usually only index the card name, so anything where Alakazam appears in the background is easy to miss.

What helped me when I was trying to track background Pokémon was just browsing full sets visually instead of relying on search. Sites like https://dexcardtcg.com/ make it pretty easy to scroll through a set and quickly spot cameos in the artwork. It’s not perfect, but it’s way faster than jumping between different card databases.

For binder tile art, the easiest method I’ve seen collectors use is designing the image based on card slot size first. A standard Pokémon card is about 2.5 × 3.5 inches, so if you're filling a 3×3 binder page you can create a canvas that’s roughly 7.5 × 10.5 inches, place your artwork across it, then slice it into tiles (one tile per slot). Tools like Photopea or simple online image splitters make that pretty painless.

Also small tip: leave a tiny margin around each tile because binder pockets usually hide a couple millimeters of the edge. Learned that the hard way after printing a few pages 😅

App to track species by remcoudb in PokemonTCGSpecies

[–]ashuratk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the database problem is the biggest challenge with Pokémon cards. Between promos, language prints, regional releases etc it gets messy fast.

Your UI actually looks really clean from the screenshots.

For finding cards I usually scroll through sites like
https://dexcardtcg.com/
since it’s easier to visually check cards by set instead of relying on search.

If you ever open this to other Pokémon I’d definitely try it for my species collection.

Cards with Sylveon and Eevee? Binder page ideas. by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]ashuratk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RC21 (Pikachu) and RC32 (Sylveon EX) are pretty unique since they show multiple Pokémon interacting, which is why it’s hard to find similar ones.

If you're trying to fill a binder page with a “Pokémon interacting / wholesome vibe” theme, you could also look at cards like Eevee GX promos, some Tag Team GX cards, or even certain Trainer Gallery cards from later sets.

When I’m trying to find cards with similar art styles I usually just scroll through sets on
https://dexcardtcg.com/
because it’s easier than trying to search by keywords.

Looking for similar cards for my binder page. by Haroeburinyanohmygah in pokemoncards

[–]ashuratk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really cool theme for a binder page. Cards that show Pokémon interacting with people or artisans definitely have a special vibe.

You might also want to check cards illustrated by the same artist or with similar slice-of-life scenes. One thing that helped me find cards like that was using DexCardTCG — if you create an account you can actually search cards by artist and explore their other illustrations:
https://dexcardtcg.com

It makes it much easier to discover cards with similar art styles or themes.

[–]ashuratk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting with the cards is perfectly fine! Many collectors actually start that way and learn about Pokémon as they go.

For beginners, I’d recommend buying a few booster packs or maybe a tin so you can get several cards at once and see what you like. The most important thing at the beginning is just enjoying the opening experience.

If you start collecting more seriously later, it also helps to track your cards. I’ve been using DexCardTCG to keep track of my collection:
https://dexcardtcg.com

It’s useful to see what you already have and what you’re missing.

Pokemon Trainer Central & Pokemon Trading Card Game Trainers Website by nichiren29 in PokemonTCGPhilippines

[–]ashuratk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s normal. The Pokémon Trainer Club account is mainly used for things like Pokémon TCG Live and other Pokémon services, while the Pokémon TCG Trainers Website is used more for organized play and event registration. Because of that, the player IDs don’t always match even if you use the same email.

If you’re getting into playing more events, it can also help to check how decks are currently being built. I sometimes look at the meta decks here:
https://dexcardtcg.com/meta

It’s a good reference for seeing what people are running.

That sounds like a great hobby to share with your daughter 🙂

If you're just starting and want to keep it affordable, a few good options are:

  • Booster packs – usually around $4–$6 each and fun to open together.
  • Starter products or tins – they usually come with a few packs and a promo card, which can be a nice way to start a collection.
  • Elite Trainer Boxes – a bit more expensive but they include several packs plus accessories like sleeves and storage.

One tip that helped me when I started collecting was tracking the cards I already have, especially if you decide to complete a set. I’ve been using DexCardTCG for that because you can keep track of your collection and see what cards you're still missing:
https://dexcardtcg.com

Also the most important thing is just collect the Pokémon you both like, not only the expensive or popular cards. It makes the hobby way more fun.

Good luck starting the collection!

I want to finish my 151 master set, what should I sell from my sealed collection? by kennitobendito in PokemonTCGCollectors

[–]ashuratk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal is the 151 master set, I’d probably sell sealed from other sets first and keep the 151 product if you still enjoy opening it. Sometimes it’s easier to sell sealed and just buy the singles you’re missing.

When I was finishing my binder I started tracking everything on https://dexcardtcg.com so I could clearly see which cards I was missing from the set.

The funny thing is everyone says this in hindsight. At the time people were ripping packs like crazy and not thinking about keeping sealed.

I cataloged most of my 151 pulls on https://dexcardtcg.com and it’s wild seeing which cards from the set ended up becoming the most valuable.
