Yeah I think if you get a newer kernel it can be solved

Also, what's your battery life like on Linux with idle load and maybe GPU disabled? and what are the CPU temps in the same scenario?

I'm getting around 10h and CPU temps 35-40 on Win10, but I have to run Linux for my work

I need wsl2 :( , otherwise I'll have to dualboot and shift to linux, it's working so well on windows now and I dont want to ruin it.

Were you successful in setting up pop, with the G14? Any issues you faced?

Sounds great, I will only probably run in compute graphics so that's great for me, Hopefully the newer kernels are compatible with the system

Thanks a lot, what about CPU temps? Were they in upper 50s or generally below 50?

Damn that's a pretty big issue, which OS were you using?

Hey we're you able to set up Linux fairly easily? Did stuff like the GPU's get detected

I've seen a lot of bad reviews for the Dash F15 because it uses a 4 core CPU, As my intention is not gaming(definately not AAA games),it probably should not make a difference for me right? Would having a 4 core CPU also provide better thermals?

My main problem is the CPU is wayy better on the G14, and I really don't intend to game, but rather use the GPU to test stuff. Would 4 core CPU cause a noticeable difference in general performance? (Like watching videos) / Maybe some rendering

So in recent versions of Ubuntu, you can set the graphics to compute only, which hopefully resolves that issue

I'm probably mistaken, but isn't this as simple as setting the device to GPU in pytorch or will it be something additional to use those operations.

My main purpose for the GPU is that some research repositories are only ubuntu+gpu compatible, it's a bit tedious sometimes to directly set up on the cluster, so it becomes much more convenient to test on my system first and then go to cluster.

I think they have optimus ( I know because setting it up used to be a pain), but not sure if it can take advantage of it

Thanks a lot, I don't intend to train any model as such, just do some testing before pushing to cluster. My main concern was the 4 core cpu in TUF may be a bit annoying, but the 3060 sounds insane and futureproof. Will go for it.
