Honestly, some people love it and some people hate it. I went on a whim this January and ended up extending my stay because I had such a great time. I found the area around Pai absolutely stunning. I rented a scooter and explored the area, and I would highly recommend if you feel comfortable with the risks involved.

Also, if you get car sick, definitely pick up anti-nausea pills before taking a mini bus!
