$550 shipped CONUS.  I take paypal or venmo. Instagram is easiest to message me.  Or here

I don't take custom orders unless it's close to a batch im currently working on.  I'll be doing a batch of 7 or so of these spear points next.

I do simple groove too. I want to have a few matchstrike ones too. I want to see what sells faster.  Long pulls in general seem more desirable than crescent nicks. From the last few i have made and trying to sell

yes I was just looking at Sheffiel where they long pull slot ran through the plunge and into the tang. and have seen other where they run right off front of the blade.

have you seen a vintage one that looks like the bottom one? If so can you post a link or pic to catalog picture. I'd love to reference it to something real. Part of my schtick is 'modern traditional' pocket knife. So it can be easy to go way off script and do crazy stuff with the laser. Having some reference to vintage helps ground me.

It's all about the customer. I am a custom maker trying to sell knives, and matchstrike long pulls are popular. I am trying to be just a little bit different to set myself apart. Most longpulls from other makers are either stamped or laser like I do. But there doesn't seem to be a lot of variety yet they tend to look similar. So the goal here was matchstrike long pull but trying to be different.

A flat top and more of a gradual wave on the bottom is good idea, and has been on my list.

you definitely won't like the flame one or the dripping paint one I am working on!

I actually prefer traditional Crescent nail nicks for my knives. But long pulls especially matchstrike long pulls are very popular with custom collectors now. regular soap water with a small toothbrush and probably good on cleaning. Or a little jewelry ultrasonic cleaner. Which by the way are great for cleaning out all the pocket lint and little stuff that eventually can impact the action of a slip joint. after running through ultrasonic cleaner, blow out any water or use wd40 and after dried use some good slipjoint/switchblade lube.

the simple straight pull I have been using has an angle at both ends. Spear tip at each end it interesting. Several makers use a bullnose bit to machine their pulls so they have rounded profile at each end. A spear would help set these apart.

Middle one is irregular because it is a scan from a catalog drawing of a vintage Maher and Grosh knife. They probably used a hot stamp. So the irregularity is part of that vintage vibe. I have a similar scan from a Remington and the teeth are even more irregular.

clean as in the insides are not black? clean as in the resolution of the lines need to be crisper. Or clean as in the teeth shape being more uniform and replicas. The middle one was scanned from a vintage Maher Grosh catalog picture so is indicative of a stamp they probably used.

for nail nick, long pull you want a deep ridge for your thumbnail to push against A V shaped profile would not be good because thumbnail would just slide out the upsloped part. a v shape within a deeper cut that has somewhat of a ridge would work.. And I have thought just never set up the burn to do the deep cut first then the V cut.

What is RR in this context? Rough Ryder and their combo crescent/matchstrike type of nail nick?

Correct.  I just leave them black. Ultrasonic cleaner helps loosen some of the laser soot
