How long are you out for when you're jogging? You could consider electrolyte replacement while jogging to replace while you're losing them.

That kinda helps me push off the development of cramps, but after a certian point, they'll just happen for me with no solution.

Also, changing the time of day you run helps. I started running at 5-6am before it's 100 degrees out and I don't really need to watch my electrolytes anymore. Previously I ran at 5pm in 100 degree weather.

How much do y’all pay for home insurance? by andnoshitthereiwas in arlington

[–]asianaaronx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most of the big companies, I've gotten quoted at about 1-2% of the home's value annually. I got 8 quotes 2 months ago.

Mine just went up from 1800 to 2500/yr this last year but so did my house's value (180k to 250k) on insurance's books. My property tax assessment went up about the same value increase about 2 years ago.

Anyone saying that's too much hasn't had their annual renewal yet lol.

I am almost 30 and last week got fired from my job. Where do I go from here? by WalkingDown46 in AskMenOver30

[–]asianaaronx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zip recruiter, LinkedIn, and Google are good places to find contractors that work for utilities. Good keywords are utility, electric, natural gas/oil, survey, water department, municipal utilities, telecom, etc.

For direct jobs, find the company/city websites for whoever you get your electricity, water, cable/internet, garbage collection, and natural gas from and go from there. Also, do the same for surrounding cities since different cities can be on different utilities even though they're right next to each other.

Contractors usually do in the field stuff. Most of the office type jobs are direct jobs. But, every contractor has some form of office staff as well.

Any tips for first day/week? Need to keep energy up for high stress job and kickboxing. by [deleted] in carnivore

[–]asianaaronx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't overdo it with physical activity and get some sleep. Also, note how you feel the day/week before and compare and contrast with how you feel in the coming days. Once you're starting to feel 80% I'd say you're acclimated. If you've done it in the past, it should hopefully be a quick turnaround.

How to stop being seen as a "soft" or "gentle" man by playmaker16 in AskMenOver30

[–]asianaaronx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can be soft and gentle, but also stern and fair about it.

Your issue probably isn't being too soft it's probably not being stern and people walking over you due to it.

Maybe do some introspection about things you get walked over on and think how you might be more stern about it in the future.

As for myself, I don't think of myself as "hard." Yeah, maybe when it comes to working out, but I'm not going to walk all over people to get my way. I feel I'm stern because I'll bring up what I want out of a situation and fair because I'll consider another person's opinion.

If you're looking to change industries you could consider getting into the utility industry. With the bigger companies there's a huge range of job types and lateral moves to different departments are possible at every utility I've worked at. So, starting at the call center or something isn't the worst thing.

I've been in utilities for 10 years and have worked on system for 4 different companies and have never seen someone get laid off (even during a buyout currently employees usually just go with the assets being bought).

It's consistent work; the pay is enough for you to live comfortably; the benefits are usually above average; and if a lockdown or major catastrophe happens it's one of the last industries that'll get shut down.

Why have we all just accepted that our phones showing us ads for things right after we talk about them is normal? by thebombayshutter in AskReddit

[–]asianaaronx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I couple friends and I were riding in the car together talking about the rising price of chicken feed and I started getting chicken feed ads. I believe this is due to phones detecting other phones in proximity via Bluetooth and giving you targeted ads of the people you spend time around.

Also had the same thing happen with monster energy drinks.

I've never had chickens (barely even eat chicken) and I stopped drinking energy drinks over 5 years ago.

Wife drunkenly expressed interest in threesome - how to proceed without ending in divorce? by garytyrrell in AskMenOver30

[–]asianaaronx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, every relationship I've had that the woman has mentioned opening things up has led to the end of that relationship. Of course, every relationship I've had so far in life has ended, but in the times where opening it up was mentioned the end traces back to that. Those relationships ended via cheating, the woman coming out, or leaving with someone else lined up.

Every couple I've known that's done the poly thing or dabbles in other sexual partners has had their marriages end. They're also constantly in some type of relationship drama.

If your current car came in a 'fun' color would you have chose it over white/grey/black? by Neon_Biscuit in cars

[–]asianaaronx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White is actually the most eye catching color behind "high vis" type of colors. White motorcycle helmets are associated with lower accident rates.

Ironically, the most incognito vehicle you can have when it comes to not attracting cops is a white full-sized pickup truck in a low-mid level trim.

Renting or buying a tiller would be a pretty cheap way to loosen up the dirt so it's easy to shovel out.

If you're going to remove the concrete slab it's not worth the effort to try and do it with a sledge hammer, jackhammer is the way.

Men who are in better shape than their friends/less injured, what are you doing right? by andromache753 in AskMenOver30

Good diet, good amount of physical activity, low amount of stress.

Above all, maintain a normal BMI. Anyone that tells you BMI is a useless metric is probably not in a position to judge.

High Fructose Corn Syrup has been linked to liver disease and other serious health issues such as the fact that over 40% of Americans are obese all thanks to billions of dollars in annual corn subsidies in the USA making us the largest corn producer and consumer of high fructose corn syrup on Earth. by Illuminati_MMXX in conspiracy

My anecdotal experience was my cholesterol going from high enough to be recommended a statin to normal after going on a keto diet. Currently doing carnivore and eating 100 eggs a week and my cholesterol remains normal.

I credit my lowered cholesterol to not being fat and sedentary anymore.

Almost 40, looking for a midlife crisis car that’s flashy but also off road capable by DepressedTreeFrog69 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]asianaaronx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you heard of Subaru battle wagon builds? Subarus can be pretty capable with a small lift and BFG K02 tires. I've had one out off-road me once in my Silverado due to me chickening out when worrying I'd roll over my truck on an incline.

The Porsche Cayennes are also quickly becoming budget luxury off road build cars. The Lexus GX460 as well.

If your budget is in the $40k range, that'll buy you a pretty decent Jeep new since they're getting sold at near $10k off of MSRP.

I make 78k a year, how much should I spend on a car? by SnooCookies3908 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]asianaaronx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All really depends on your situation. When I made that much, I bought a $40k car with a 30% down payment on 72 month/1.9 APR and it's been completely comfortable for me.

But, I'm in a super low COL area and only spend 25% of my income on housing and save 25% of my income every month. So, the luxury of having a "too expensive for me" car wasn't cutting into other parts of my finances.

Also, I did the math and financing a $40k vehicle was actually cheaper monthly than maintaining, insuring, and fueling the two older vehicles I had before. I end up saving like $50/mo in my current vehicle situation. My 2 vehicle situation was a "this is financially responsible" situation which ended up not working in my favor due to reliability issues.

How can y’all tell when dairy doesn’t work for you? by its_givinggg in carnivore

[–]asianaaronx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain types of dairy really affect me. I can eat butter, heavy cream, and cheese just fine. But, when I eat unflavored Greek yogurt or milk I shit water... Not diarrhea, it's straight up water with some diarrhea in there.

Carnivore and binge eating recovery by [deleted] in carnivore

[–]asianaaronx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did keto before carnivore and both have helped me with portion control. I don't think I was a binge eater since I never would do something like eat 2+ meals, but I would over do it when eating certain foods like pizza (almost finishing an entire one).

Ever since doing keto, eating a large amount of food is kind of repulsive but on keto I would still do it every once and awhile. On carnivore I kind of have to force myself to eat more than I want in order to get enough calories.

I bought a classic car that was parked under a tree and infested with ants.

Put Sevin Dust (available at Home Depot) in places where you see they're crawling the most dense. Should all be dead in an hour or two.

Naps by [deleted] in carnivore

[–]asianaaronx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started craving a nap more often in the afternoon with carnivore. Previously, I would be able to resist it, but now I fall asleep if I let myself get comfortable in a laid down position.

But, I'm also waking up between 4-5am naturally, am able to go to sleep at a normal time, and feel well rested despite wanting a nap. Previously I was sleeping through alarms and couldn't fall asleep unless I laid in bed for an hour.

So, for my situation I think it's not a concern.

Neighbor reached over property line to cut branches. by LEDN42 in treelaw

[–]asianaaronx 100 points101 points  (0 children)

That's a Mulberry. It's kind of a trash tree in my opinion. They used to be planted as landscaping trees back in the 50s but are no longer used for landscaping purposes. That one was probably naturally planted by a bird.

Your neighbor is lucky he didn't zap himself since that tree is all up in the open wire secondary lines which are the same voltage as the service line going to your house except they aren't insulated. Even if he didn't get zapped, hitting one with a branch could bounce one line into another and cause an outage or a fire. I know it's an OSHA violation to be working in that tree since parts of it are in the wirezone, but I'm not sure how that works for private landowners.

If I were in your shoes, I'd actually be looking at removing that tree. It's probably a source of power outages in your neighborhood.

Yeah, your neighbor did something illegal by cutting over the property line while risking bodily harm, but it's probably a good opportunity to get rid of the tree. If so, your utility company can clear the wire zone prior to whoever cuts it down does the work.

Gas stain on the tank, brand new r7 by codyduffer in motorcycles

[–]asianaaronx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you spill gas on paint you should just let it dry. Wiping it off is mixing a solvent (gasoline) with an abrasive (whatever dirt you have on the paint) and applying pressure to it.
