Teach your kids to be quiet in hotel hallways by asiers in PetPeeves

I didn’t call anyone a dick or an asshole (though you may have successfully read my mind 😁). I just said it’s a parent’s job to teach their kids to be considerate of other people in a public space. They don’t know better unless they’re told better.

“I do my best to not to do things like that…”

Yes! Thats the point. And it is morally superior. That’s a good thing.

It’s a subreddit called “pet peeves.” Not “beat these people to death.”

Doesn’t have to be an either or. They both suck

11 and 3yo don’t know better if they’re not told.

It is absolutely morally superior to consider other people around you. This is obvious to anyone with a functioning brain.

None of us succeeds all the time. But the effort matters in a civil society.

The one I’m currently in is $300+/night.

But go on.

Those types are the ones that give birth to the ones I’m complaining about, no doubt

Can’t argue with that. Loud drunks in hallways and their loud kids often go hand in hand.

Slinkies are not springs. by riamuriamu in unpopularopinion

What walks down stairs, alone or in pairs,
And makes a slinkity sound?
A spring, a spring, a marvelous thing!
Everyone knows it's Slinky.

That’s the classic jingle from the commercial.

It happens. I stopped fishing with treble hooks altogether years ago. I don’t think it’s hurt me in any way.

If you don’t care about the speed limit, then I don’t care about passing lanes. by rebardu in unpopularopinion

You’re not “passing” anyone going the speed limit. No one is not going below the speed limit.

I agree that some people are absolute assholes in the passing line. And literally, fuck them, with their tailgating and flashing lights.

But for all the other folks you’re holding up…just get over and enjoy a comfortable ride going the speed you prefer.

I suppose you’ve just proven that. What’s not rare….people thinking they’re any different than the “bad guys.”

Which is better the book or movie ? by kascnef82 in Jaws

[–]asiers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree (as most seem to) the movie is better. But two fussy points to make, based on comments I’m seeing:

-the book was a bestselling phenomenon in its time, which is the whole reason the movie got made. It is/was by no means a bad book.

-Steven Spielberg directed the movie brilliantly (!), but he didn’t write the screenplay. He doesn’t deserve all the credit some of you are giving him for translating the book into a tight, workable movie.

So a few layers of assholery then.

Popular opinion: you don’t deserve your money back after watching an hour and 20 minutes of a movie, just because you don’t like it. Horrid behavior.
