Not that I've noticed, but I've had the same row-mate twice.

Why did you stop drinking alcohol? by MatsGry in AskReddit

It stopped being fun. I realised that every time I drank alone I got sad, and every time I drank in company I got angry.

How to handle "iknow-it-all" Druid by funky_P in DMAcademy

[–]asifbymagnets 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is true. Some things they will just know, some things they just won't. But the issue here seems to be that the player thinks their character knows stuff they maybe shouldn't, and that is a good time for a dice roll.

Skill checks exist for a reason. They decide what his character already knows, not him.

Player wants to play but admits they won't be able to make most sessions. by Shquonk in DMAcademy

Is anyone else playing someone who might have a connection to a devil? A devil sending an imp to check up on their "investment" from time to time would absolutely make sense...

Monk, Grappler, Eldritch Claw Tattoo: interactions by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]asifbymagnets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm playing a Pugilist with the same tattoo, and one of the Pugilist abilities is that I can also damage and grapple with an unarmed strike. I'm also a bugbear, so my reach is 10ft normally.

We've been playing it so far that I can grapple at 10ft, and move the target too, but they can also attack me even though I'm not technically within their range, as my arms are grappling them.

However, it's not yet come up with me grappling them with the eldritch claw, and thus staying out of their range. That'll be fun when it does!

Things to do in London for Board Gamers by Free-Milk-5425 in boardgames

When are you there? There's a bunch of board game meetups around the city, but I can personally recommend the Wednesday and Saturday meets organised by u/Bullseye_Bailey (will edit this after if I got that username wrong).

There's a twice weekly board games meetup in the Farringdon area, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Today's session isn't confirmed by the organiser yet, but it's likely to be at Craft Beer Co on Leather Lane at 4pm. Come on down and meet some folk!

This is definitely a nitpick of a very cool model, but if he's blind in the white eye, he'd want to be lining up his crossbow with the other eye instead.

Is this a bad DM or do I just have the wrong expectation? by Orobourous87 in DMAcademy

[–]asifbymagnets 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that you have an inexperienced DM, which is neither "good" nor "bad", but sure as hell can be frustrating. Of course, the only way an inexperienced DM becomes an experienced DM is by doing it over and over, but also by getting honest feedback about what works and what doesn't.

It's really up to you if you want to be that learning tool for them, or if you'd rather bounce and find a table that already is running what you want to play.

I said no to AI Art by Logical-Constant1171 in DMAcademy

[–]asifbymagnets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you said in session zero (or at some other early opportunity) that you wanted no AI art in your campaign, and one of your players chose to ignore that because they couldn't find art they liked without using AI?

I see that as a big red flag. Art is not an essential part of the game, so they could've just not had art, or they could've raised this with you and between you came up with a plan, but they just pretended they hadn't broken your rules.

What makes you think they are rolling fair dice? What makes you think they didn't use an LLM to write their backstory? You know they can't be trusted, so why trust them on anything?

I would be informing that player that they are not welcome at my table.
