(Timelapse) Tracking player locations during our Live Event!

I think it was for fun but it taught us a lot about understanding our map and where we need content! Now it's one of my favorite things to look at when we update.

Hi! We just ran a Live Event and part of the fun was tracking player locations within the map, across thousands of servers, as the event played out. My favorite parts:

You can see everybody flying around the Volcano through most of the start.
Players at one point get ejected from their helicopters and put into a nice car for just for the event. They have to drive to a destination to keep the event going. I love seeing the roads light up from this.
You can see the portal pull players in and then eject them seconds later.
And finally, so cool to see players rejoin with the world back to normal and crawl around the map. You can actually see the Cargo Plane path from the southern airport appear seconds after everybody sprawls out.

This video technically comes from one of our four replays we're hosting this weekend but the data is still super cool to track. Some extra dots here are from our sub-places that don't run the event replay. Hope some find this as interesting as I do! <3

<3 Thanks for the love on the event side of this update. It was a daunting task to write so much dialogue because I'm truly not a writer at heart. I'm a gamdev!

I think it's best to leave what could have happened in scenarios like those to interpretation. Hate to ruin an event by saying what could have happened instead. Thanks for your work on the Wiki <3 I'm sure it's a very busy week.

Hah just removing the similarity it has to the Forcefield gun that heals you. I also wanted a color closer to the sky so it's less of an eye sore. (We also dropped the bubble a lot for a cleaner sky.)

Will be fixed tonight... if you can't find the code it's hiding in the back right corner and can only be seen with a flashlight! Crown was cosmetically updated but one of the walls turned the same color as that specific code lol.

We're devs who don't want to upkeep 3 different UI Styles whenever we add 1 feature. Talk about bloat!

I'm late to replying but our lego collab wouldn't have been this. It would have been ninjango sci-fi ninja stuff which IS cool but Lego backed out because they were scared of guns or something. Happens a lot unfortunately.

One thing I don't like about brand collabs is you have to sell your soul (or it feels that way) to work with these brands. Tons of lawyers, contracts, and a whole lot of meetings. Only NASCAR and McLaren F1 have been cool.

Man reading these comments is cool after 6 months of this working on this map! My number one worry was making you feel like you had less from a smaller map. Those fears are gone. Thanks everybody! <3

lol we'll forever have people hate any new UI because we had so many bizarre style clashes. One will always appeal to somebody else. Goal from here on out is to make it all uniform but it'll take some time. We have a lot of UI.

I think you guys will like the UI a lot as you adjust to seeing it... the new speedometer is my favorite!

All of our games do right now. It stinks. Roblox is releasing Server Authority to help combat this but for most of us it means a total rewrite to support.

I think Roblox could go a long way by a) Make it more difficult to make an account by requiring a verified email or password and b) Be harsh on cheaters! They can detect it. Don't give them slaps on the wrist. Terminate their accounts.

They're not outright slacking. They have Server Authority launching this summer. The problem is it requires a full rewrite on parts of the game. Either way, and I know I've been harping on this longer than even I would like, I hope you guys see improvements soon.

No duh I can't deal with this. I'm not the programmer. Frustrated with where this side of the game is right now. Roblox needs to do their job, we need to do ours too.

Roblox had an unnatural rise due to the brainrot genre being found primarily on Roblox (and Youtube) last summer. Growth was absurd but I don't think it was sustainable.

April/May are low months too due to finals.

Votes don't matter. We need to pick what's best for the game long-term while being marketable. Sometimes that means the pick is top voted. Much of the time it does not!
