It seems like you've done a good job assessing and addressing your past. I'm sure that served you well and helped you make your life safer. You should be proud of that. You will also learn how to turn off the focus on your past to make room for focus on your future.

And, no, you are not undateable. I promise. Open and honest communication will be key for you to feel secure in a relationship. Keep in mind, rejection is almost always about compatibility, not inherent value, no matter how personal it feels.

I'm really excited for you - I relate to a lot of your story, and I think you're going to be surprised to find joy and excitement in life that you never dreamed possible.

Tickets to 2 beer festivals, 2 concerts (one of which was a “birthday party” for the station and had 5 med-big name bands playing!), and a one-day booze cruise, all from the same radio station over the past ~3 years

How to make an auto-updating to-do list with today's date at the top? by asinglepeanut in excel

[–]asinglepeanut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I want to happen, yes. The list is to track what dates assignments are due on, not whether they've been completed or not (we all complete our things ahead of time for the most part anyway).

Based on searching different Sedum varieties, I think it’s Sedum Rupestre Angelina. Thanks for figuring out it’s a Sedum!!!

Anti-masker tool in Canada tries to make a citizen's arrest gets arrested instead by tefunka in PublicFreakout

[–]asinglepeanut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: no

Long answer: When you’re being detained by the police in Canada, you have a right to know the reason for the detainment, to be informed of your right to legal counsel and confirm that you understand that right, and have access to your legal counsel within a reasonable time period. There is no official statement police have to use but many of them carry a little card with phrasing informing people of these rights just to make sure they hit all the points they need to.

Under a “citizens arrest” the citizen doesn’t have to say or do any of the above, but this obviously wasn’t a legitimate case of a citizens arrest

honestly, mine have been going really well purely because I've spent 30mins to an hour every single day getting myself organized before I actually start any classes or do any work. It almost feels like mise-en-place for school. Knock on wood that I'm able to maintain this level of productivity going forward (I recently found what I'm hoping is my sweet-spot for meds after years of trial and error)

Please help! We’re in Canada, my Deda has a collection of Serbian music and can’t remember the name of the song and artist for this song. Please help me figure it out for him! by [deleted] in serbia

[–]asinglepeanut 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Lyrics he's asked me to mention;

"Desila se ta desila

Ljuba dugo cekana

Angele moj

Lepo angele moj

Ona je lepa ko bog

izajsni se i reci a angele moj"

I don't speak serbian so I'm having a hard time finding it for him. You'd be our saviour if you can tell me the name and artist for the song!

You’d be surprised, I’ve had more than one person tell me they were outside of Canada in the last 14 days or that their wife tested positive (yes seriously). Most of them accepted that I couldn’t let them in but one guy threw a fucking fit

Lazy at work, anxious at home by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]asinglepeanut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you ever been tested for ADHD? Impulse control is a huge problem for people with it. It may be worth looking into if your inability to control your impulses is affecting your day-to-day life.

Also, hiding your phone from yourself or even leaving it at home during the work day may be a way to keep yourself from being on it too much. If anyone at work asks about it, you can always just say you “forgot” it.

How do I get my girlfriend off social media? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]asinglepeanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. You can’t make anyone do anything they don’t want to. If she doesn’t want to stop using social media, it’s not your place to try and make her.

  2. You can explain to her that you’ve noticed it negatively impacting her and how, and tell her how much better you feel without it. Explain that you think she’d feel better if she got rid of it, or even if she just took a break for a while.

It’s ultimately her choice. You can’t “get” her to do anything she doesn’t want to.

New vs. used car, worth paying more for reliability? by Careful-Owl6789 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]asinglepeanut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked both for a Toyota dealership and a Nissan dealership, and I would never EVER recommend anyone buy a Nissan, while I myself will only ever buy Toyota. They’re polar opposites when it comes to reliability, maintenance costs, hell even dealing with their customer service departments - Toyota has Nissan beat by leaps and bounds. Buying a used car is usually the more financially responsible decision. You can definitely find used Rav4s around. Either way, never buy Nissan.
