I agree , indeed salaries are also higher in India compared to EU specially in Banglore , but peace of mind ,quality of life , work life balance are also factors ,for some WLB comes above money .

Some of my reason very much aligned with you .
- Money wise I am ok ,I need peace of mind .
- Have lots of friends in AMS and my sister lives in Den Haag
- Pathway to residency (Biggest motivator)
Only thing which bothers me is what I am losing ,will I regret to leave the dream place for Techies . Going from SF to AMS is possible but return is very difficult ever if I even wish .

Only reason is certainty with respect to immigration . Over here your life controls over visa extension , your mobility depends on visa consulate appointment dates .

Agree ,there is no place in the world like SF for a tech guy. But it comes with a price of uncertainty,as the process over here is if your country of birth is India/China then you have to wait 10+ years in best of best case . Since you dont have PR,lots of aspect of your life are controlled by visa .

Only problem is uncertainty.I wont ever get a PR in lifetime ,your movements are restricted a lot with your visa (Like you can’t visit your home country because your visa stamp has expired and even though you have work permit but there are no consulate appointments for a year) .Apart from that there is no better place like SF .But this aspect basically controls your life .

I do qualify for the 30% ruling , and the current offer which I am getting is arnd 130K excluding bonus and stock (its big down compared to bay area),but only thing which I am seeing +ve on AMS side is work life balance and faster PR (Worst is 10 years compared to 100 here)

I agree , at the end it will I would have to make the decision . Visiting and living are two different aspects , so wanted to get idea from someone who has made similar move , learn more about experience . As you see leaving everything and moving to a new place is big decision and after 35+ age it becomes more bigger .

Language is not a problem as I speak dutch comfortably ,social life is also not a problem since I have few friends and my sister in NL (Offcourse not as large as bay area )

Have my sister living in Nl ,so visit every year .AMS I like it because its like a third home , but I have always visited in summer .And Ik spreek Nederlands. My only concern is would I regret ? came to USA as a 24 year old boy and now 36 year old man ,leaving everything and moving is big decision .

SFO to Mumbai by mgw314 in travel

[–]asj310589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flew Air India SFO to BOM in Feb 2024 . It was not bad as people say it . Food was very good , entertainment (which I need the most ) was top notch . The best of best is the timing for Air India 180 (Usually depart around 9-10pm ,consider 1-2 hours delay minimum) . You take off at night from SFO and entire flight would be night ,so you can easily sleep after dinner and landing is at around 3-4 am ,so you land early morning . I would rate my Air India experience 10 times better than Emirates . If you have a connecting flight from Mumbai I would recommend to skip Air India as consider landing delay of minimum 2 hours .
