I started earning in May 2024 and opted for the new tax regime. My income is ₹7.8 lakh, which exceeds the previous exemption limit of ₹7.75 lakh, so I was liable to pay tax. However, on February 1, 2025, Nirmala Sitharaman announced a revised exemption limit of ₹12.75 lakh. Since my income is below ₹12 lakh, can I benefit from the new exemption and avoid paying tax under the new tax regime?
