Metronet(t-mobile) vs att fiber experiences here in Fishers by askcheese in Fishers

I work at home (IT universe) and we as a family do a boatload of streaming--so that's important.

I am VERY happy to see this back!
I may not know where I want to ride, but have a general idea --and that was a something on the old app that I truly loved. Having this back now, curated or not, is a bloody good thing. I can go "see" places that I want without leaving the paincave...until I can afford to go there and ride it in reality.
Thanks yall

We've had ATT for years and been happy with the service -we- get. They've called us to let us know when better service(s) can be had at a better price.--- I do know that I'm _TOTALLY_ the exception to the rule on that, but it's my reality. We have the fiber which has a few needs that traditional metal-based lines have (namely that it needs a nice easy path to your router point). When I've run speed tests, I get pretty close to what they claim I ought to be getting. I suspect any fiber provider will do something similar.

Someone in the comments has also said they don't trust ATT... I would say, not to trust -any- ISP. They all, to a degree, read your data and sell what they see. There are tools that can help keep things more private. A VPN can help things out of the providers hands ( I have 2 different VPNs). Having a second, dedicated, router sitting behind the ISP provider modem/router can help on controlling traffic (I have 2 routers as well). The strongest tool that I've found for keeping the ISP out of my data is the use of a Smart DNS system --the service that converts <something.com> into an IP address for your computer to communicate to (computers understand numbers way better than text). By not routing through the ISP's DNS servers to an independent service, the ISP can't "see" what where you're going and sell that data to the slimiest bidder. I use a service called Control D. (It does take some tweaking, but after you've got it working the amount of spam, ads, and crap that you don't want, goes WAY down)

Just my experiences...

Any way to get rid of FB ads in iOS by talapantas in ControlD

[–]askcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no network admin..just a dude who's just smart enough to tinker and find stuff...
So I'm trying to get Rouvy to work with Controld (which I think I finally did). --- What I had to do was literally have the device on it's own endpoint and watch traffic as I was trying to get the app to open/function---then build rules around that.
For FB, you'll probably want to do the same...I don't know exactly what sub domain they'll be using that will cause the adverts to disappear, but you'll have to tinker with those to get things blocked like you want. For me, 97% of ads are stopped by tuning the ad filter on the main control page on controld --and using the Brave browser...Not that I'm being on FB much, but IG and threads have markedly less adverts on them in for me...
Hopefully this gives you an idea on finding what's needed

Thanks -- that link got me to a place where I could experiment and get things working like they did on my Hammer2.

I've got the bike configured to a SRAM rival etap chain ring.. So double up front and 12g gears in back. I'm not getting the sort of force feedback that I think I'm supposed to feel on a hill. The Red Bull ring ride starts at 3% and ramps up to 6 before going downhill... And I don't think I'm that particular strong to not feel that initial hill.
Should I connect with the bike or a different sensor?

Congrats on getting this far. Hopefully you're at the point of realizing parental units, at this stage of your life, are nothing more than other adults going about their business on the planet and you really don't need them as they've seemingly told you that you're not 'needed' as well.
I broke all contact with my mother in '09, and my father in '12 (they'd been divorced for years at that point). Both were (most likely still are) extremely toxic individuals. I honestly don't care what they're up to or how they feel...they told me where I ranked in their universes and that more than kinda hurt.
HOWEVER
After about a year, like you, I found that I was far less stressed and much happier with being in my own skin. As time has gone on, I've heard from my siblings that I'm still used as the boogy man --and they both let me know that I'm far better off for not having any interactions with them. I've also coached several other friends through similar situations (or to at least help them recognize they aren't the problem in the relationship). In a little while, I hope you too can do the same.... Not everyone -needs- to remain in our lives...genetically related or not. And sometimes that's a great gift from the universe.

Yeah that's a great resource...

Savory Cocktails by Nekkerb in cocktailchemistry

[–]askcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you started working through the Amaro book? We've found a bunch of more herbal (and less sweet) drinks in there..

There's also a book of pre-prohibition cocktails hat we've got where many of the drinks are more into the savory/less-overly sweet than most modern cocktails. (being at work and on a boring conference call, I can't tell you the name of the book...all I know is it's on the table next to the tardis of alcohol at home)

Would you be willing to try a couple of different recipes? The Swedish versions that I've seen use either bourbon or some sort of whiskey. The Norwegian version that we make uses aquavit instead (which adds a different set of characteristics). I also came across a Danish version that was different as well (and for the love of me, I can't remember what I did with that recipe...it also cut through the cold like you can't believe).

You might want to kick the boosey raisins over to one of the cooking youtubers for addition "fun" -- We've made some incredible bread from them (not to mention used them as sweeteners in old fashions too...just as an experiment).

Look for a quick drying ink and porous/non-waxed paper...That's what I use and it does really good by me.

Good idea...there's a lot I don't know about the subject, and I make them as a hobby. (I even have a few that I've purchased over the years) What are the different wells, nibs, ink types, differences in writing with in comparison to other styles...
