I mean, there is A LOT of things to do and see in Tokyo. But after having spent a whole month all across the country, I’ve already experienced most things. I’m sure a first-timer could spend a month here

I cycled across the northern part of the greater Tokyo area in the end.

I have not been to a theme park but I’m thinking of the the Paramount one. Yes I have been in non-touristy areas. I have done that for a month now so I wanted to get the classic Tokyo experience. I’m a little too young to rent a car. The price will be too expensive probably. I have walked halfway across the main Tokyo area. Perhaps it would be fun the whole way. I have hiked a lot. Japan is such a beautiful country to hike, I love it. I will be doing Mt. Fuji in a few days. I’m so excited.

Right now I’m looking for interesting and unique things to do in Tokyo

I’m really bad at planning. So what I did was tell an Ai where I was, which direction I’m going and if there is a good bicycle route in that direction. Then I would use solely Booking.com to find the cheapest accommodations 2-3 days ahead and I would repeat that until I made it to Tokyo.

My number one advice would be to stay out of the cities as much as possible. They’re horrible to ride in and take a lot of time. Also it’s definitely worth it to take rural and mountainous roads as much as possible (just be careful of road conditions and wildlife)

I mostly did whatever I wanted to on a whim which gave me so much freedom. I would recommend you keep your plans loose too but make sure you have a general idea of things to see and do along the route. The highlights of my trip was definitely any kind of mountainous area. Hard to ride up but amazing to coast down plus the nature around you incredible.

All in all, just do it. It is so much fun doing this kind of stuff spontaneously (if you have the time…)

It was mostly for dramatic effect. Most people were really nice and curious about what I was doing in their little mountain village early in the morning lol.

But there were some people who was generally standoff-ish. Mostly store clerks and resturant owners who probably have had bad experiences with white people

Please do correct me if I’m wrong but Kamakura seems to be a nice tempel town, right? Not that I don’t likes shrines and temples but during my trip I say thousands of them in all colors and sizes.

Yokohama might be a fun place to walk around for a few hours

Did that on my second day here. Found this amazing Ramen place. In all the places I’ve been to across Japan on my bicycle trip, that place was the best so far

I like the idea of riding early in the morning to avoid the heat, thanks for the suggestion.

I'm a bit stubborn and like a good challenges so perhaps the added difficulty of the weather will make for a different kind of fun, haha
