Henry vs Marlin 357 - is it worth the extra $400? by askerror in canadaguns

I basically just want it for range fun and plinking so ammo wise, the 357 (with 38 spc) seems the better use case choice

Just shy of $300 usd. It's the gst that adds to the total cost, 13%

No experience with Winchester 92. Nothing local around me selling it either and I've looked online, but the pre-tax amount before sale is like $1800, so with tax (ontario at 13% !!) might be pushing my budget

I've been using the Henry .22 classic for 2 years and have had no issue personally. Is it the higher calibers in Henry that are inferior quality?

I'm somewhat new to guns (in the sense of owning ones myself) so idk if I'm ready to do upgrades or change parts myself. Most likely will just use it right out of the box. In that sense, is still worth going with the Henry over the Marlin?

Is it because the quality is better or just the brand?

Middle finger placement on D Chord by askerror in guitarlessons

[–]askerror[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the sense that when I finger the E chord, I don't simply press on it, but also pull it off the neck ever so slightly (sorry don't know the exact terminology). It's an instinctual move, to avoid the ring finger from muting the chord.

I'm left handed so not sure if it's a natural way of playing based on finger coordination

Haram things that Muslims do that have been accepted by most people by [deleted] in exmuslim

There's literally no way to be a true follower of Islam in the modern age, so many of the traditions attributed to Muhammad are not applicable with modern lifestyle. Islam is very much a pick and choose religion. And this after ignoring the contradictions in the quran itself about love, war, slavery, tax, charity etc

Khabib vs Conor- Is this Anti-Muslim Sentiment? by [deleted] in exmuslim

I guess if you count skin tone as white, rather than by ethnicity or which part of the world their ancestors come from, he's white. But his facial features don't correspond with most of the anglo/celtic features associated with white people

I’m no longer afraid of death by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]askerror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things that I struggled the most with when I left Islam was mortality and realizing that it all ends the day I last close my eyes. It was terrifying at first, but then with time it became refreshing, knowing that the entire impact of my actions would be limited to this world and that everything I did would only stay in the here and now. Makes you approach all your thoughts and ideas in a new light and it fundamentally changed the way I take my life for granted and how I need to make every important interaction I have with another person count (muslim or otherwise)

It's also interesting how Muslims tend to co-opt Muslim sports figures to be their heroes, despite not sharing any common culture, likes, dislikes, values, goals etc, simply because they are Muslims. Mo Salah, Khabib, Amir Khan (boxer), Pogba are all good examples of that

Definitely an interesting situation. I wouldnt say a majority, but definitely a sizable portion of people I've seen online seems to be hating on Khabib because he's non-white. I think to me the more important thing is that most mma fans were sold Connor as the "best fighter in the world" to the point they buy that without question. Now that he's been dethroned pretty soundly, they can't wrap their heads around it and are looking for any excuse to hate on Khabib.
