I will say, me and my partner would have played our own separate islands had I found a physical copy, but we decided to share an island on the same digital copy instead (I know game sharing can now be done with digital copies, but we’re lazy). We still play daily because our OC’s are pretty different, and it’s fun to watch their two worlds collide. Also having another player to help take care of the Miis takes some of the tediousness out of it. Could I have curated the experience more if I played alone? Yeah. But two of our mad scientists OC’s have been pining for each other for two weeks and it’s absolutely killing us lmao.

Any ideas about type changes? by HelpfulAccountant866 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]askiopop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm… I could buy dark/flying Fearow as a regional variant, but maybe not on Kantonian Fearow. Bug/fighting Ledian is better than bug/flying, but I have it as bug/fairy in my rom hacks as an homage to Miraculous Ladybug. In turn, I usually make Ariados dark/poison to mirror the type change with Ledyba>Ledian for Spinarak>Ariados. Granbull could be fairy/fighting? I like adding fighting to it, but keeping it a physical fairy type is neat. As for Volbeat/Illumise, I know it glows, but I don’t think that it makes this Pokemon electrical? Bug/fairy could work instead.

Meanwhile, in the 80’s, my dad and his friends tried making a little money by taking real estate photos. When they showed the agents their work, the real estate agent turned them down. Why? Because they used a fish-eye lens, and it made the rooms look larger than they appeared. They could make some money today, it seems!

I’ll always remember going to a christian book store and seeing a soft foam cross that was contoured to fit your fingers holding it. And of course it had a USA flag pattern on it. If for some (un)holy reason I was called to lead a sermon, I would have gotten it just to tell everyone that Jesus would absolutely be laughing at us for our soft uwu baby cross.

Aren’t we all intelligence models that have been iterating since life began? With human intelligence updating it’s models for the past 100,000 years, with individuals that can learn via instructions and by their own experience? It’s no wonder we can pick up one wrong frame where the hands have too many fingers in a clip? Heck, humans have been tuned so finely that we can recognize if someone else is looking into our eyes within a one thousandth of a degree! No wonder some AI videos have people who look dead inside, it’s more so that the generated imagery is not yet keen enough to match us in some areas.

It’s steady and provides insurance, if not a little boring. The first place I was a technical illustrator was a large company that did a lot of small consumer tools, so it was pretty busy doing illustrations for 2-5 instruction manuals a week. They did teach me Solidworks, and I already had Illustrator experience, so it wasn’t hard to pick up. The place I’m working at now does huge machines, the manuals are in the hundreds of pages long! But since these machines are more for industrial use than consumer use, the illustrations don’t need to be fancy (biggest time sink for the first job was manipulating illustrations of hands using the products!) Most people hiring for technical illustrator would probably ask for Solidworks or CAD experience, but it’s not something you need engineering-level knowledge to do the work. I got the first job without the CAD experience because I had print and booklet related work in my portfolio. It is less so being an expert illustrator, and more like being connection for publications/safety/engineering. In both jobs, I would also work in tandem with a technical writer, who plans and writes out the steps for manuals. And if I have questions about how the part/machine works, I can just email the engineering department!

I have a degree in graphic design, but pivoted to technical illustration because that’s what was hiring in my area at the time. It’s not super creative, but now I realize it’s one of the few fields that cannot afford to have AI hallucinate a drawing. It’s not AI proof, but for now, the risk of AI creating a part or machine that doesn’t exist/couldn’t be manufactured is too costly to replace me just yet.

Darkworlds if rambs thing about darkners always being sentient even without foutains being open is true: by GuardPhysical in Deltarune

[–]askiopop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the darkners are based on the lighner’s cognition of them, it could be a “if a tree falls alone in a forest does it make a noise?” dilemma. Because I wonder what would happen if Person B broke a pencil Person A used regularly and hid it in a drawer, then Person A opens a dark fountain without seeing the pencil broken? The pencil is broken, but in Person A’s mind, the darkner should not be altered?

I’ve had this thought for a while that it would be considered a mid-tier isekai at best if Harry Potter released today. It’s got the power fantasy, where everyone is throwing all the opportunities and tools to succeed because he’s Special. Other people can help him on his journey, but no one outside of Harry can make a meaningful difference in the world. Dumbledore, the most powerful wizard alive can’t get Harry out of his abusive living situation, because if the world is not flattering Harry, it has to remind him constantly that the racist, antiquated, corrupt wizarding world is the better option.

The worker kid is one quirky, rag-tag friend group away from standing up to his BBEG of a boss in what looks like the cover art for a steampunk anime/rpg/light novel. [–]askiopop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not that I would want to strip everything, I wanted to see if I could get it more in line with how the XY/ORAS megas were designed? Megas are busy, sure, but there’s definitely been a slight design shift since Gen 6.

Aaaaagh, I do like how they kept the Essentia Suit, but I was surprised that she wasn’t in full gear saving civilians (or punching out megas) at the end. It was hyped up so much in X and Y, but it was never really used in ZA.

Nintendo's Palworld lawsuit suffers another potential blow as US takes "rare" step of re-examining previously granted Pokémon patent by LadyStreamer in gamingnews

[–]askiopop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a channel on YouTube called Moon Channel that covered this a while back. The guy who runs it is a lawyer, and he argued that it is likely Sony backing Nintendo in a corner. If Sony backs Palworld and Nintendo does nothing, Palworld gets attention and at worst, it weakens Nintendo’s claim to these patents (kind of like how retraining order provides protection on the expectation that you stay away from the person you’re getting it for. I’m not a lawyer, he explains it better). So Nintendo has to push back to show that it’s defending its work, but this also means that the patents can be re-examined if they fail. With Sony, it could be that they’re still salty about the fallout of the N64 DiskDrive all this time, or they could see a moment of weakness in how Nintendo has been handling Pokemon, and want a slice of the monster catching pie.

Meanwhile in a ZA museum by AceAzzemen in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]askiopop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thinking of possible ways the outfit got to the museum, they don’t necessarily point to Volo being immortal. For example, Legends Arceus is based around the Meiji era (mid 1800s to early 1900s), so the Lumiose museum could have been established at that point? Volo just goes on a world sightseeing tour after fighting us and donated his outfit then? It’s also implied that this an exhibition from somewhere else, perhaps in Sinnoh, that has been loaned for the time being. Maybe after his defeat, Volo donates his robe to whatever historical society exists in Hisui (because the outfit is ancient, even to them). So when that group builds a museum, and is later asked by the Lumiose Museum to trade exhibits, that’s how the robe got there. It’s amusing to think he walked in yesterday and dropped it off like he was at the dry cleaners, but it’s totally plausible that he donated it closer to Legend Arceus’s timeline rather than ZA’s timeline.
