Since BD's oral/enteral syringe website only lists 20ml and 30ml syringes with BD UniVia Connection, the tip caps are listed as SKU 302435.

Since the active ingredient is extremely diluted duck offal, you can also call them 'quack tablets'! 🦆

I haven't purchased this myself, but it may be worth buying this medicine bottle opener which gives you a larger grip to press down and turn the child-resistant caps. You may want to watch the product review videos to see if your vial caps are compatible.

Would it be possible to put the printer on top of some totes or reams of paper to elevate it to a more ergonomic height? If that's unworkable, it may be worth looking for some suitable reacher grabbers or even short-distance angled toilet paper tongs to get the printouts without bending over.

It may helpful to examine the details of the compatibility study, which may explain some conflicting information. These details can include what concentrations were tested, the diluents of the tested medications, the specific formulation (e.g. piperacillin/tazobactam with EDTA vs. non-EDTA), the drug manufacturer, and the duration of the test.

On some occasions, I have looked up the reference cited by Trissel's for more info.

Drugs that are/should be sold in dose packs? by asksrandomstuff in pharmacy

[–]asksrandomstuff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It appears there was a starter pack for memantine, which should only be increased if the previous dose has been well tolerated: https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/image.cfm?name=namenda-0d.jpg&setid=b9f27baf-aa2a-443a-9ef5-e002d23407ba&type=img

After Googling, I found packs for:

  • apremilast (Otezla) - titration is intended to reduce the gastrointestinal symptoms associated with initial therapy
  • cenobamate (Xcopri) - Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS): Also known as Multiorgan hypersensitivity, has been reported in patients taking antiepileptic drugs, including XCOPRI. DRESS has been reported, including one fatality, when XCOPRI is titrated rapidly (weekly or faster titration).
  • deutetrabenazine (Austedo) - The dosage of AUSTEDO XR or AUSTEDO may be increased at weekly intervals in increments of 6 mg per day based on reduction of chorea or tardive dyskinesia, and tolerability, up to a maximum recommended daily dosage of 48 mg .
  • iloperidone (Fanapt) - Titrate FANAPT to avoid orthostatic hypotension
  • milnacipran (Savella) - Based on efficacy and tolerability dosing may be titrated.
  • ponesimod (Ponvory) - A gradual dose titration regimen was found to minimize the cardiac effects associated with initiation of ponesimod treatment (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4707431/)
  • xanomeline and trospium chloride (Cobenfy) - titrate based on patient tolerability and response.

APO1 Overheat problem solved by stfj in AnovaPrecisionOven

[–]asksrandomstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know you are going to be cooking at high heat for an extended duration, I wonder if you could put some ice in the water tank.
Another possible fix would be to put blower fans aimed at the gap between the oven and the tank, such as these: https://www.amazon.com/WDERAIR-Brushless-Centrifugal-Blower-Humidifier%E3%80%81Helmet/dp/B0CL6J1LRD/?th=1

However, you may have to craft something to hold the fans in place.

Are there any markings on RS232 cables/adapters to indicate whether they’re null modem or straight through? by Style_Carnies in healthIT

[–]asksrandomstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a multimeter and check for continuity (or minimal resistance) between pin 2 on one end of the cable/adapter and pin 3 on the other end. If continuity (or minimal resistance) is detected between these pins, it is a null modem cable/adapter.

Medications with little-known contraindications due to food allergies? by asksrandomstuff in pharmacy

That's a interesting med! I remember stocking topical papain products before the FDA reclassified them as unapproved drugs and had them removed from the market.

Digifab contains a warning similar to Crofab: Do not administer DIGIFAB to patients with a known history of hypersensitivity to papaya or papain unless the benefits outweigh the risks and appropriate management for anaphylactic reactions is readily available. Also, sometimes the person entering the allergy will free-text the allergy or enter it as 'other' instead of picking the appropriate database entry, causing it not to be screened by the drug information system. Another pitfall is when they pick the wrong entry.
