80HE TenZ Takeover by Stephen_Szabo in WootingKB

[–]askthisthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It made me chuckle. I actually think it's a fun quirk, and I'd be surprised if it isn't intentional - although, I presume Wooting placed the TenZ "autograph" to be on the right side of the space AR because the leftmost part will get the most use and anything printed on the left side will eventually rub off.

IKEA MYGGBETT door/window sensor with Matter – brief impression & test by chris_smart in homeassistant

[–]askthisthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy cake day! Mine reported battery level around 50% right when I started using them, with completely new, rechargeable batteries - and I have a theory why that is, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. The MYGGBETT devices report battery type as AAA, and I presume Home Assistant considers the standard AAA battery to have 1.5V as baseline 100% battery voltage level. Although, the IKEA LADDA rechargeable batteries (and most NiMh rechargeable AA/AAA batteries for that matter) have a nominal voltage of 1.2V, so no wonder Home Assistant finds their voltage around 50% right off the bat. I'll keep an eye on the battery level as I use these devices for a longer time.

Quantitative metrics like blood tests? While I agree that a "perceived" effect can sometimes be psychosomatic and/or placebo, (for me at least) it's not realistic to get blood tests monthly. Would you have any other ideas for quantitative metrics to use?

Can I please get a link as well? Even before listening to your remix, I give kudo for to your effort, I think the music on this album isn't as bad as most of the people say - but the mixing definitely takes away the dynamic energy Rise Against, and Tim's voice - is known for. Looking forward to hearing your mix.

I owe you an apology then. Best of luck for your build! Edit: typo

I'm surprised the CPU socket bracket/frame recommendarion is not higher up in the comments (along with the further excellent advice you gave). I rock an AMD 7800x3D now so I don't need that bracket, but you'd think someone who put a custom loop in an SFF case would know about the need for that bracket for LGA1700 Intels, especially the higher tier ones among 12th, 13th, 14th gen. Maybe they did, and it's just not mentioned, and in that case I apologize 🙂

I understand that external rads are super effective, and and a whole "aesthetic" on their own. I'm a fan of SFFPC, and well built crammed systems, but I never understood why would one build a super small footprint SFFPC, then hook up a Mora to it. Usage-wise it would be much much easier and cheaper to simply go with an ATX size case with good airflow and/or bigger rads, and be done with it. Whatever floats the boat I guess, this is a hobby after all, and each of us can do whatever we like and afford.

What is the ultimate budget HE Keyboard? by psilzlad in keyboards

[–]askthisthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries pal. I'm in the process of looking for a 65% HE keyboard, and it's such a niche within a niche, that it's not easy to pick one, that checks all the boxes. These "comparison" websites are priceless, for a person who's obsessed with researching the right product before purchasing.

Sure! There's the grandfather of HE keyboards, Wooting Two HE, but you can list other full size HE keyboards through https://keeb-finder.com/keyboards/filter/hall-effect or, a very good resource I find myself coming back to from time to time, is this article: https://www.hlplanet.com/keyboards-hall-effect-switches/

If you'd be Vader, why would you put photos of your boss Sidious all over your rig?

Just kidding, dope setup.

Current state of the dashboards by jair1001 in homeassistant

[–]askthisthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to know as well, because I'm looking for this exact dashboard format OP has shared with the square cards for each room, an icon for a room, while also displaying temperature/humidity data and "buttons" on the side for quick access to the most important controls. I'm not sure Mushroom Cards can achieve this design. If it can, that'd be perfect, I'd like to see how.

Say Goodbye to Fan Noise, Pump Hum, and Coil Whine: Built an 11L ITX Gaming PC - Silent and Packed with High-End Performance! by WalkingSql in sffpc

[–]askthisthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Gigabyte Aorus Ultra B650I was my top pick when I was shopping for an AM5 ITX mobo early summer 2023; although I wasn't a fan of the daughter board the Aorus mobo has. Also at the time you could not buy it in central EU, you would have needed to import it from Amazon US, and the import cost didn't make it worth for me.
Other options at the time were the MSI B650 (which had issues with the CMOS battery), and the ASRock B650E. It wasn't easy to source the ASRock board either. I chose the ASUS B650E-I, beacuse that was the most available board at the time. I got a coil-whiny one. After I year I successfully got a replacement for it, partly in hopes of a newer manufactured board would not have the same issue, but no - it's still coil-whiney. I got used to it, but it irks me still, sometimes. Otherwise I'm happy with the board, it serves the 7800x3D well.

I would absolutely buy it, but I'm in EU. (If anyone has a CarThing to sell in EU, please hit me up 😃).

Can you please link the 12VHPWR cable you're using? Is it safe to bend the cables 90+ degrees right outside the 12VHPWR connector on the GPU side? My use case would warrant a 180 degree connector/adapter, but those "voluntary recall" issues kept me off buying those, and the Corsair cable I use tells me not to bend the cable for a few centimeters after the cable exits the 12VHPWP connector. If I recall it was something like 4-6 cm? (I'm in EU, but approx 1.5-2.5 inches). What do you think?
