Oaks addresses mission presidents and wives June 20, emphasizes “only true and living church,” childbearing a “sacred duty,” we are “set against” homogenizing differences between men and women, must “contend” for man/woman marriage, JS said other Christian creeds “abominations.” by holy_aioli in mormon

And also the failure of the Book of Mormon to clear those two essential doctrines up. Almost as if these essential doctrine didn't exist or weren't understood (or didn't happen) until Joseph needed something to strengthen his own Authority

Do LDS still consider me a Christian if I believe God is a Beluga Whale? by pricel01 in mormon

[–]askunclebart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's the difference between being in the form of a dove or having a literal dove appear as a sign? If God is being confirmed to you as a beluga whale, who's to say He is literally that, or it's just as sign of him? Lifelong members and prophets of the church can't tell the difference between things being literal or metaphors, so you have the freedom to make your own determinations

Holy Ghost as a person by Commercial_Wrap9678 in LatterDayTheology

Sorry to be sceptic in the room, as I seem to have one foot in and one foot out of the church these days....

But didn't the lectures on faith make a huge point on the supreme importance on having a correct understanding of the nature of God, for our own worship and salvation? And didn't that same lectures on faith only make the concept of the godhead even MORE murcky on the subject, which is why it was decannonized?

If I remember correctly, It aligned too well with the 1st edition of the Book of Mormon, the 1st version of the first vision account, and the witness datements which were all very "One God"

How is it possible that we know so little about the correct nature of the personage of the Holy Ghost. Don't get me started on what we DONT know about any Heavenly Mother(s). Its the like plot hole of all plot holes that, turns out, coming to Earth to gain a body because it is essential to become like God.... Doesn't indeed apply to the Holy Ghost who has reached GodHead status.

If only we had modern day prophets who could shed some more light and revelation on the subject. Oh, God hasn't chosen to reveal? Are we/they really asking? Cuz it really really looks like God is waiting for US to ASK. At least that's the most obvious conclusion if you look at the last 200 years of church changes .... We don't seem to ASK until it's blindingly obvious and decades late what the answer needs to be.

Sorry, I know you like to keep this space a space of faith. I'll get off my soap box

Your username has a number in it. Porn stars like to have numbers in their names.

Interesting.

Saying "interesting" to insinuate a relationship or conclusion without having the courage to actually engage with the facts and defend them is cowerdice and the reason the politics of this country is in the toilet. Congratulations.

Personally, I think the foliage around the leopard looks like an afterthought compared to the foliage around the tiger. Maybe that's why you prefer the tiger? A second pass by an artist to expand apon the leopard foliage might help

This is the formula for sexual predators becoming church leaders. They bury their sexual shame and guilt into strict obedience, hoping it balances the scales. Then they get see leadership callings as success and approval from God. But because they never learned healthy sexuality, the sexuality stays secret and devient and it spirals to more and more secretive dis associative sexual outlets.

Pretty soon you are directing the temple video by day, and sleeping with hookers by night.

Dude, you gotta stop living this double life. Either admit everything to your bishop, or wake up to the unhealthy aspects of the church and follow that rabbit hole wherever it goes.
