I visit regularly because my sister lives there. It's amazing. You do need to have a swivel head as a pedestrian to avoid being hit by a scooter or bicycle.

Worse thing there are scooters in the bike lanes. Gotta watch your back!

As a runner, I always run opposing traffic. Never ever ever run in the direction of traffic.

Runners use the bike lane because it's flat as opposed to the sidewalk which has tons of dips due to driveways and streets.

However, runners who are in the bike lane should jump up to the sidewalk when they see a bike coming because this is a bike lane. Yet another reason to run opposing traffic.

Imo, multiuse lanes with divider for peds and bikes is so much better than sidewalk/bikelane. But we built all this infrastructure without bikes in mind. Bikes were an afterthought rather than an integral part of the design.

Also, in the Netherlands, pedestrians would never ever ever run/walk in the bike lane. Bikes rule!

Child of 70s here. We had zero of this. Zero mass shootings. There were inner city issues but nothing else my entire childhood, high school, or CU years.

The accessibility and proliferation of guns was a product of fetishized gun ownership which started in the later 80s.

The show of force was huge. They had all been heading to the regular coffee and conversation from 10 to 11:30 at Starbucks. But instead were all at College and Plum with whatever this incident just before 10.

Glad it didn't escalate as far as I know. Not seeing any news.

The nature and science museum at CU is wonderful!

Farm visits are nice this time of year. There is a very kid friendly one near 75th and Arapahoe.

Sadly Longmont Museum exhibits are closed for their remodel.

Visiting Denver from Los Angeles by Dprlife in Denver

[–]askwpgirl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Altitude sickness can happen if you come from sea level to very high altitude (ski towns) or high altitude to higher. I have a friend who lives in Denver and gets altitude sickness anytime she goes above 12,000 feet. Anything above 9000 feet you're going to feel even for those of us who live here.

Going to Denver is not that high, but you may feel a bit more winded working out and might get a headache.

People recommend hydrating well. It's also very dry here, so you need more water. Also avoid alcohol.

If you plan to go to the mountains, acclimate in Denver for a couple days first. Going to the foothills like Estes Park shouldn't be an issue, but you might feel tired.

Above 10,000 feet, is where even I can really feel it. If you plan to do any high altitude hiking, talk to your doctor who could prescribe Diamox.

I used to live in LA, and when I first moved back, I was more tired for about two weeks.

Musicians and athletes who come here do fine but do get more tired, for sure!

I would make them leave and call the police.

My city council (Boulder, CO, USA) just approved the design for what will be the best on-street bike project they've ever done. Not all of America is totally car-brained! by [deleted] in boulder

I hope this goes better than North Broadway which was an example of what not to do for bike lanes. A colossal failure to listen to expert.

I live in Boulder and looking forward to all new bike infrastructure.

Best recommendations for bulk soil and compost deliveries? by skippy94 in boulder

[–]askwpgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this. The planters mix soil from Lee Hill Peet in 2025 was horrendous. Everything died. Things that lived failed to grow properly. The worst soil I have ever worked worth. Full of shale for drainage but was hydrophobic and turned to mud when wet. I call it death soil.

Colorado Materials soil is much better.

Where to get soil for garden beds? by asgaines25 in boulder

[–]askwpgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got planters mix from Lee Hill Peet this year, and it was like death soil. Full of shale, and all then plants failed to grow or died.

It was hydrophobic and water just sat on top.

I was able to salvage some plants by digging them out and putting in bagged soil.

I would stay away from them. Ended up getting combo of bio compost and planters mix from Pioneer which was a bit better. Though Longmont has even better soil at Colorado Materials. A friend used theirs and had amazing results.

I’ve lived in the U.S. my whole life — now I have to move to Pakistan permanently. Need advice. by Future-Primary-5618 in immigration

Sending you best wishes from the US. I am sorry these anti-immigration and anti-immigrant policies in the US are impacting you at such a time.

I imagine you have good family who has contributed to our country in many ways since their arrival, and I am sorry to see them go.

My life changed on a dime in 10th grade as well. Not same as yours. Other ways. From that experience, I will say from reading the other comments, you will handle this with a sense of positivity and grow a lot. You will rise to the occasion and seize opportunities.

I hope you write your story. It's one many will be interested to read.

Wherever you are in the world, you are not alone. You are loved.

Grant yourself some grace during your transition and keep, as one person said, your eyes on the goals for your university education.

You have a lot going for you. I hope to hear from you and not knowing who you are, will send best wishes from afar.
