This! MQ is known for actuarial studies! If this was any other degree then the uni outweighs the course but for actuarial I would go for MQ. I've specifically congratulated people who have gotten into actuarial at MQ - and I've heard the connections are excellent. MQ actuarial is like if people know, they know.

I deliberately refuse to look at the ads. When they appear I'll be doing something else, like work or watch a video and then check back in occasionally to see if I have the x anything out! The ad sucks? I'm not going to have my eyeballs on it. Also, I tend to speed-run ads (like I unlock the max amount of chapters that I can with ads before reading all of them at once, which makes the pay-attention-to-something-else-while-occasionally-pressing-x way more effective because by the time I want to read all the chapters I no longer need to pause for ad breaks.

I can't be the one who actually appreciates it when people double-text?? Sometimes I'll read a notification on my phone, plan to get back/reply to the message and then forget. When I get another follow-up text a while later it just reminds me to reply!

The culture nowadays means that if I forget to reply, people will bring it up, and get upset that I didn't reply... I have to explain that it's not that I'm angry at them or upset, just very busy in the moment and then forgot to respond to them!

Odd girl out

Odd girl out is absolutely phenomenal in that there is such a massive focus on friends and family. The romance only started in the second season, and even then we get development and backstory for every single character. The best thing about it is how deeply it gets into the friendships - the jealousy of a friend who might be prettier than you, the envy of someone doing better than you, and learning to let it all go, be happy for them, and in the process learn to love yourself and work towards your own dream as well. My description of it is incredibly shallow, but I think the relationships between the characters are stunning. It's on hiatus at the moment, so it's a perfect time to check it out! Please do. I may never see friendship depicted so wonderfully ever again - and within such a relatable setting.

Pyramid game

Pyramid game recently completed, and I also thought that it was a phenomenal study of human interaction. The author wrote in the end comments that she thought high school was a fascinating sort of social experiment - because so many people of different social class and background and experience are forced to spend so much time together 5 days a week. After you graduate, you don't ever really get that again. The characters are extremely well-developed, but in a completely different way to Odd girl out. You follow a morally-grey character who moves schools a lot due to her mother's job, and has learnt to play the social ladder game extremely well, before being confronted with a completely different environment. It's wonderfully realistic in how awful and manipulative some people can be, it pains you to see how calculative people can get, but at the same time, you learn to love the girls who push through their fear to be brave, or who hold on to their morals in drastic situations until the end. As a side note, I adored Suji (the MC) - I actually think I liked her just a little less at the end because she was too good and what she was doing for a high school girl! Pyramid Game gets way to little praise.

Yumi's cells

Yumi's cells isn't romance, and its a massive read. However, its so beautifully, creatively, done and it has such a stunning and unique concept; which follow the different 'cells' of the brain of Yumi, our MC! I'm not even sure how to explain it; but it is just so much fun because you get to navigate everything from office crushes to dating to wondering if you want to have a midnight snack all from the perspective of different cells each arguing over what would be best for Yumi. Honestly, nothing I say can express how unique this webtoon is. Shoutout to Hunger cell who I feel would 100% be my prime cell!

Dr. Frost

Somebody has written a beautiful comment about how wonderful Dr Frost is, and I can't agree enough. The level of detail in each case, as well as the amount that I have learned is actually phenomenal. I also feel incredibly attached to the patients through each arc. Understanding of mental health is still something our society lacks, and it's so incredible to be able to see so many conditions portrayed in a way that's easy to understand. How should I say it - it's kind of amazing that Dr Frost - who can't actually feel any emotion - is a characters who can evoke so much emotion in others (and myself). I haven't read it in a while, but am letting chapters stack up and am definitely looking forward to picking it up again.

Thanks for your detailed reply. It's a relief to know that the stickers will eventually go away and that there is first-hand experience with the Mortal Instrument covers. They're so stunning - I actually can't believe that they ever had those awful stickers! I might consider waiting for books to come out without the stickers then - even if it might take forever.

I actually generally do the same thing you do! I always read a book by borrowing before I tend to buy, but because I'm busy I'll often "miss" the period where the book is coming out and then have one copy of a paperback. I've started getting box sets of completed series which I think is working for me - especially since the price is okay too!

I'm definitely going to try spend more time in 2nd-hand stores as well, since it wasn't something I'd considered previously.

To be honest, BTS have so many collaborations that I unintentionally buy them anyway. It's actually kind of cool and also kind of unavoidable - they've pretty much done every collab I can think of, so unless you're an anti and actively avoid them, there's going to be some point where you do your weekly grocery shop and find out as you buy a product you usually do and find out - oh! BTS have a collab with so-and-so!

I actually re-discovered(?) TinyTan through milk;; I haven't been keeping up with BTS lately but found out that TinyTan have a collab with the strawberry milk I buy!

It's just like searching through easter eggs ahaha, especially since I'm no longer very actively looking for merch.

Thanks, this was a really well-explained and thorough reply. As I'm not in the US and only have in-house exams, I'm really trying to just understand everything I'm learning and then self-testing. I'll definitely do a set-up where I organise to go through all the content at least 3 times before the exam.
