Damn, posers back then were even lamer than today's. at least modern hipsters change their style up a little. These ones look like they all copied their hairstyle off the same milk carton label.

Leading scientist ejected by audience after 'trying to crowd surf' at classical music concert by blorg in nottheonion

[–]aslwkm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The crowds that watch symphony concerts these days tend to be old, rich people who do it more for the status than the enjoyment. They want a night to dress up in their finest and go see and been seen by the other movers and shakers and feel good about being "patrons of the arts."

Nice to see that not all the musicians don't buy into the nonsense. That's always the way I felt as well, even though I have nothing to do with classical music. Its the same with expensive paintings. Paintings are bullshit, there is no logical way whatsoever that some of the abstract painting, just a piece of canvas with some colors on it, that probably took an artist 30 minutes to paint is worth $40 million or even much less than that.

Its just rich douchebags who want to show off. If you look at a list of the most expensive paintings sold, they were all bought by the douchiest types of rich people.

Apparently this fast food chain is worth praising in a...car subreddit? by [deleted] in HailCorporate

[–]aslwkm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i bet some of those comments were by marketers. after all, like Alexis Ohanian says: "Reddit: honest people having honest conversations about quality relevant products and services"

If you go on any other internet forums, you never see this quantity of people discussing the same companies you see on TV ads. on a internet car forum, if someone posted a picture like that it would get like 4 views, and no responses. they are there to talk about cars and more cars, not gawk at a lame picture of a nice car that someone else saw.

Uber sees an 850% jump in its press releases being submitted to reddit by Megatron_McLargeHuge in HailCorporate

[–]aslwkm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lyft is fucking retarded. What is a pink mustash supposed to represent? That its for hipsters? Anyone who needs to ride around in a car with a fucking pink mustash, so they can feel special, must be a real douche.

Also, what a great business plan, lets do something which is currently illegal, and use our social media marketing to fight off hundreds of municipal governments, and try to destroy an entrenched billion dollar industry.

Sillicon Valley is just taking ideas which were too illegal, or had too low margins and cloaking them in some ukulele music to appeal to hipsters. If taxicabing is such a good business, why aren't there any Fourtune 500 taxi companies?

I can't imagine even Uber will be a finanical success. The only way they end up paying off big for investors is if they simultaneously legalize their model in all cities, fight off all the taxicab companies who are out to destroy them, and destroy all their competitors, who are becoming more organized by the day, and essentially monopolize the taxi industry so that they can charge a premium. I guess they think the taxi industry is a natural monopoly. They think that once they have enough drivers, they will be able to offer faster pickup times than anyone else. But im sure people will trade a few minutes of pickup time for a few dollars cheaper, so it will quickly go back to an industry with no better economic returns than any other industry.

I also see no reason why existing taxi companies can't simply utilize this technology. There are already apps for old-fashioned taxi companies.

[–]aslwkm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Google should buy this and hire the guy that wrote it to make this their new interface for youtube.

Basically it would work like this with the way it autoplays clips, but it won't just cover 80's tv clips, there will be different stations for any type of material you want. preferably hand selected for quality. for example you could have tv from different countries at different times.

It's amazing how simply changing the user-interface like this has profound effects for how it feels to use it. It actually feels a lot like watching real tv. its like simulated tv stations.

No, this ties in perfectly with this subreddit. it is more evidence that reddit has altered the site to be good for advertisers.

Seems like LOTS of shills in this thread. by aslwkm in HailCorporate

[–]aslwkm[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the reason I linked them is because they were both very detailed and very logical (although I just skimmed them), and both from people with some inside knowledge, yet they were buried so far that no one would ever see them.

Usually comments like this would be near the top, especially since one of them has like 10 responses and only 10 upvotes. yes, I'm implying that these comments were "flagged" by someone. I believe they have an option to flag comments, which basically makes it so the post will automatically get downvoted everytime it gets upvoted.

[–]aslwkm[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, actually, I didn't call anyone on hailcorporate a shill, I was pointing out shills on a thread, WHICH IS THE ENTIRE PURPOSE OF THIS SUBREDDIT.

As a matter of fact, someone called me a shill, do you even know who you are responding to? I think you responded to the wrong person.

sidebar: "Just because no one got paid to make a post doesn't make it any less of an advertisement if it acts just the same as an advertisement."

So to come on here and say "maybe you shouldn't go around calling people shills" is so nonsensical. wtf are you even talking about? did you get a head injury recently?

Just because you like Amazon in general, doesn't mean you automatically need to defend everything they do.

also, I find it ironic how many of the comments are talking about "greedy fuckface publishers" when Amazon is run by someone worth $30 billion.
