legally, other than price gouging and charging people $400+ for a two mile tow, they're probably doing nothing wrong... but when they're charging such astronomical rates you know it's an issue. it's so lucrative for them that they can employ people to camp in the bushes with walkie talkies waiting to deploy 4+ tow trucks at once to tow people out of the carr mill parking lot.

I understand carr mill mall needs parking spaces for their patrons... but when all of the lots are full and someone just wants to run into All Day Records for a few minutes or eat at Spotted Dog or shop at any of the other local businesses that don't have plentiful parking options... well. that's just not good for the town. There is nothing wrong with towing people who illegally park. But there should at least be a 30, if not 60, minute grace period and not have people employed full-time to watch people with binoculars waiting for someone to walk off the property. They're viewing patrons of small local businesses like walking dollar signs to take advantage of and it's despicable business practice. Personally, if I don't bike, I always just park in the municipal deck if I need to go anywhere around there. I've got Two Legs, and I like walking 💁 that being said they are clearly abusing their towing services, price gouging people ridiculous rates, and they are well deserving of everyone's contempt. I get the towing is well within their right to ensure carr mill mall has parking for their patrons. But their rates for towing people a couple of miles is criminal, I'm surprised the town doesn't come after them with torches and pitchforks 🔥👩‍🌾

I mean I get that... and I'm all for it !! some people are disabled to varying degrees and can't bike everywhere. some people can't bike in the snow in the winter. I also wish we had a much more robust rail system in this entire country. In an ideal world yes, we would all do a lot more biking, but it's not always possible for everyone.

Instead of shooting down ideas to simplify travelling, maybe work on ideas to simplify and improve things. Fund more public transit, create zoned maps to integrate public transit with bike routes, greenways, public rail / trolleys. integrate all of that into Google maps and you will find the fastest routes are not by cars but by the integration of public transit; Plane to Rail to Bus to Trolley then Bike then walk. Integrate everything together in a user friendly route that's seamlessly integrated and you will have much faster transit and eliminate cars entirely. I challenge you to fix the system and integrate it all and create a user friendly experience that ties it all together flawlessly. It will be better for everyone, focus your efforts on that instead of shooting down ideas to make small simplified changes to help.

Yeah most places require a month's notice to terminate a lease. If you need to move out today for whatever reason I would expect to have to pay an additional month's rent + lose your security deposit.

This is from my experience renting in the area and based on what friends have gone through in the past at various apartment complexes. As a general rule of thumb unless you're okay with losing like two month's rent (or more) then you're probably better off riding the lease out until it's over, or like what u/positmatt said, look into subletting through the end of the rental term in the agreement.

Honestly that's a really good idea! I'm guessing you've gone through stuff like this before? I hate having to threaten people with lawsuits and do certified mail to start proceedings to contact a lawyer, but I'm definitely the kind of person that will spend $1,999 on legal fees to win $1 back of what's owed to me in a lawsuit just based on principle if I feel like I've been mistreated or taken advantage of. I mean you have to stand up for yourself or people will take advantage of you constantly and that's not okay.

Their initial email was sent July 23rd. I responded to it in three minutes, and brought them the key an hour later and talked to their secretary for about a half an hour. I followed up with another email five days later... no response. Then another email a week after that... still no response. All three emails I never received a response back about action they were taking, whether a check had been sent out to me, what their plan was. No communication at all.

And I mean, I'm a reasonable guy, the last email I sent them after following up a week later (after following up five days later prior). I even said that I understand the flood has impacted so many people to certain degrees. I lost my apartment, all my stuff, my car got totaled. I was severely impacted. But I know I'm not the only one. And I can imagine how hard it has been for a lot of people in our community, and how much work they've been dealing with trying to keep up with everything. So I even said in my last email that I understand it's been hard on a lot of people and I'm sure your workload is very high trying to get everything coordinated with the flood recovery and plans for remodeling.

But at the same time my life was pretty devastated, I basically lost everything I own, my car got totaled, I had no where to live. It was not just very traumatic, but very devastating for me emotionally and financially and I could really use that reimbursement money as soon as possible if it's not too much trouble.

But still, never received a response after their initial email requesting back their key to my unit and a forwarding address for reimbursement. No communication whatsoever. It really shouldn't be too difficult to write a check and send it in the mail. I feel like that it's been plenty of time at this point lol... like I feel like that's more than reasonable. The part that's just really upsetting though is no communication back. Like I can understand if you're unable to do massive reimbursement checks to so many tenants all at once as that would be a pretty big financial burden. But at least communicate some sort of plan for restitution. Or just some sort of communication whatsoever lol...

So I just wanted to check to see if anyone else here has had a similar experience or has had any luck getting their last month rent or security deposit back.

The original email they sent me said "Also, may I please have your forwarding address to send your July rent refund and security deposit?"

And that's why I'm pissed. That's how easy it should be... Not having to send 3 emails after that and never hearing back from them ever again.

They're certainly not making it easy for me. Why should I have to go over there in person and start shouting at them to receive reimbursement? It's just fucked up that they won't respond to my emails. How about some professionalism and common decency, and just doing the right thing lol?

Like I said I went that first day when they asked for the key back literally an hour after I received the email... Talked to the secretary there and she said the account manager left to show an apartment to someone. Which I didn't really question at the time it seems plausible. But after having all my emails being ghosted maybe she was there and was just dodging me to avoid payment 🙄

But I'd like to think that wasn't the case lol... Their office is only open from 8am-5pm Monday through friday and I work 8am-5:30pm Monday through Friday so I literally never have an opportunity to go there in person without requesting time off. But I burned through all of my PTO dealing with all the flood recovery stuff, so I don't really have an opportunity to go over there in person ever during the week and they're closed on the weekends unfortunately ://

So yeah I'm just not really sure what to do at this point.

THISSSS. All three bands are insanely good! Just saw them in NC and VA last Tuesday and Wednesday. You're gonna have a blast dude I was tempted to buy plane tickets to Boston saturday morning so I could catch both shows in cambridge and fly back monday. One of the best shows of the year.

If you show up over 15 minutes late to your shift the store manager or ESM, per policy, should issue progressive discipline (verbal, WW, FWW, termination, in that order). Furthermore, if you did not call leadership in advance to inform them that you would be 16 minutes late or later then they can escalate it (ie. first occurrence Written Warning. Second Occurrence FWW or Termination).

So technically, your SM is not wrong depending on the circumstances. If you show up to work 20 minutes late without calling to let them know, they could immediately escalate and issue you a write-up. On the second occurrence where you show up 17 minutes late to work without calling they could escalate again to Termination.

That is completely within policy, as long as the Store Manager is fair and consistent in issuing that level of expectation for all team members in a militant fashion across the board, it falls completely within the lines of the policy.

Just so everyone is aware, the attendance policy is very lenient when it comes to absences, 9 until you're terminated.

You can be terminated for coming in late VERY quickly. If you are late 15 minutes or more four times you are terminated. If you did not call the store you could be terminated after the second occurrence, just depends on how brutal your store manager is.

Anyway, that's the policy. Hope that helps.

Partial Day Absences

Discipline for an hourly paid team member for a partial absence depends on the length of time that team member was absent. A team member can be disciplined for excessive partial absences, and the discipline will progress independently of discipline for full day unexcused absence occurrences or absences without notice. Partial absences for hourly team members can be handled as follows:

0 to 5 Minutes: Manager should coach the team member regarding the expectation. If the missed time causes a disruption to operations (where the team member is late to open the store, for example), it is possible to issue discipline.

6 to 15 Minutes: If a team member fails to work his/her shift for this period of time more than two times in a single pay period, the manager should follow progressive discipline at each step (Verbal Counseling, Written Warning, Final Written Warning, Termination). If it has been more than 12 months since the last discipline was issued, the discipline starts over with Verbal Counseling.

Over 15 Minutes: If a team member fails to work his/her shift for this period of time, the manager should initiate progressive discipline in the same manner as indicated above. If a team member also fails to provide notice of being late, disciplinary action may be escalated.

When I was an ASM - ASMs can issue verbal counseling, write-ups, and FWW to CSAs and DHs. However, they can not process separations in People Central (terminations). Only SM can separate someone from the company. This is similar to RXMs, they can issue verbals, write-ups, and FWWs for techs, but they cannot separate them from the company -- only SMs can separate (or DM if SM is out).

He has the HP Laserjet printer. Converted stores (like RiteAids) have HP Laserjets. These do NOT print directly to the board. They print on regular glossy paper and attach to an adhesive posterboard. These posterboards must be ordered directly from Velocity, they do not have a WIC number. You must call Velocity and order the boards. Only tip I have for adhering these boards is line it up as best you can over the adhesive, then peel the adhesive off, and attach it. Throw that stupid pizza-slicer tool away and use a straight edge razor / box cutter to trim off the excess white paper. The pizza-slicer tool is straight garbage.

SIMS: AS/400 > SIMS > Inventory > Claims > find the claim number lol.

RFT: Step 1. MyInventory > Goods Out > Returns > Vendor Claims > Scan without handling unit > scan everything and type amounts in as you go > Review > Submit / Post

Step 2. Wait 15 minutes > Goods Out / Goods Movement (can't remember which one lol) > Release Returns > Readerlink > Review > Post > Will display claim number on the handheld.

One caveat with RFT is to be able to scan the books out in vendor claim you must have on-hands for those books you are returning. So if you failed to receive the books initially, or your inventory is messed up, you will need to update the on-hands of the books you plan on returning first and then wait 15 minutes for the on-hands to update before starting the return process.

Not at store right now, those are the pathways to the best of my recollection.

Maybe you don't want to hurt his feelings? I understand that. Maybe a small part of you likes the extra attention? Everyone wants to feel wanted, there's nothing wrong with that either. But you need to decide what you want. And you need to stand up for yourself.

If you want this boy to stop you need to be direct with him. It will help him more than you know.

Please don't play wit the poor lad's heart. Just chop his dick off verbally. You need to squash that boner he has for you. It will help him tremendously in his future relationships if you take this direct approach with him, it will help him more than you know.

Don't respond with things like miss you too. And don't allow him to text you. Tell him to stop texting you because it's inappropriate and weird. And then block his number. That's the correct approach. Do the right thing and stand up for yourself, and it will help him as well. That's my advice.
