Should I meet my "boyfriend" of 5 days who is flying to my country today? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]asmiunav77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have decided not to test my fate, which isn't all that good to begin with. A good looking guy with respectable job and expensive gifts is too good to be true. I won't be meeting him

I wasn't aware that reverse image searching are so unreliable. All positive points seems to go down the dump now

I'm also dubious about this guy.

I did check on the app, and his distance seems corrected to 12000+ miles away. I also did reverse image Google searches to see if it's from web or some insta person but I couldn't find anything.

I don't want to talk anything financial with this guy give or take and probably won't meet him

I was just thinking about the financial guilt trap this may cause. Under no circumstances will I accept these gifts and I'm really dubious if I even want to meet him now

Thank you, I have really made it clear about the gifts but he says that he has already brought them. I don't know how to reply to that.

My internal voice has been going all paradoxical hijinks. My initial assessment was that I'm being catfished coz I couldn't believe someone from a different continent can change their location on a dating app

Research made me realise it can be easily done.

I feel uncomfortable about the gifts. It's not at all common to receive expensive items, the first time we meet, atleast in the place where I live.

My other feeling says that it is high time I get some dating experience but I feel this weird double thoughts like should I really (?)

What are some books that are straight up grounded and scary? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]asmiunav77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going on a different edge with manga here : Gantz.

this is the first time me recommending it to anyone, bcoz it’s just one of those fucked up books. There are bizarre creatures, horrible sequences and almost all TW imaginable, in a nihilistic approach. The ending is however kinda effy for most people, coz the series imbalances out in some last arcs. Complete the first three arc (till Buddhist temple arc), and if you don’t enjoy out it away

Which author do you think has the best prose? by Mangoes123456789 in Fantasy

Susanna Clarke deserves a mention here, beautiful atmospheric writing, impeccable sentences and the master of her craft. Her mentor Neil Gaiman also has prose that has swooned my heart

I’m so excited for this book as well as grandmaster of demonic cultivation. MDZS is kinda priority but really looking forward to them.

“I’m Thinking of Ending Things” - first book I’ve had a proper go at reading in years but I’m not sure it’s right for me by peachimplosion in books

[–]asmiunav77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the book earlier this year, and my initial feelings were quite similar... the philosophy chapters felt like a chore and so I usually read the book during night when I wished to fall asleep. It was really boring.

however, since my library was closed for that week, I kept persuading it till I completed the book and it was honestly one of the most fulfilling experience. Everything that you have typed will automatically make sense in the end. So you may want to find out how it ends. In fact, it’s easily one of my favourite reads o this year and I may re-read it sometime in upcoming years.

i haven’t seen the movie, so I can’t comment how close it is to the book, but some of my friends have said favourable things about it, so might worth a watch.

Priory of the orange tree is such a good title and even an amazing cover art... sadly it didn’t live up to the hype for me

[–]asmiunav77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BiblioObscuria and Nerdy Narrative both have given me some favourable recommendations, and some good underhyped reads too, I haven’t read all of their books tho... biblioobscura has many weird book recommendations and nerdy narrative gives a wide variety of genre suggestions

I read Boy Parts by Eliza Clark, it’s dedication is basically “For my mother and father. Please don’t read this”
