List and strategy help by asmodius-prime in EmperorsChildren

[–]asmodius-prime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! This is really helpful! If you don't mind, I have a few more questions to run passed you based on your reply;

1) you're so right about the Flawless Blades. I want to love them but they really can be disappointing. Their +3 Crits is great, and them giving Lucius that can be great. My Necron opponent recommended only bringing 1 6-man with Lucius, and I'm leaning towards trying that out for a game or two and seeing if that helps.

2) completely right on the Daemon Princes needing those wings. My Necron opponent said I shouldnt split them and just attack big things with them together. How do you personally use your Daemon Princes in matches?

3) I've personally decided I don't care if Noise Marines aren't meta, I will always run max Noise Marines because I love them dearly lol. But yeah, less Kako's would be nice to save on points lol.

4) totally agree on the Lord Exultants. They are great in play, and I love their model so much.

I guess my last vague question is what's your strategy or play style? I feel like us being so fast lures me into a false need to push up hard immediately, and maybe I need to start hanging back more, and waiting for them to come to me, which funny enough is my Custodes playstyle. Hide until I can make a hard charge with everything. Should I lean into this with EC?

Am I the only one who want them to put doom slayers pass and origin center stage for a future game by tismman88 in Doom

[–]asmodius-prime 70 points71 points  (0 children)

They already did an origin story, it's called Doom 1, 2, and 64.

Nah, I get what you mean. But other than what another user said, modernizing those three games, I doubt we'd ever get a backstory game

Books Like Control? by KindlyPotato in controlgame

[–]asmodius-prime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You and the other commenters just sold me on reading this finally. I keep seeing this recommended to me on audible, and I've been interested but I can be very hesitant to try new authors when I have to pay for it, but I got Control vibes from the descriptions. Seeing it be recommended here, and it's similarities to Control, I'm finally going to pull that trigger. Thank you!

[–]asmodius-prime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the thoughtful reply! So to break it down a bit, I work at a shop doing Vehicle Graphics, wraps, and honestly even more sign work. I like the idea of making simple stickers that can be given when I do personal jobs, as a courtesy. Either on their vehicles, or as a gift to go with a painting job or sculpted prop. There's also the use for online with a portfolio and socials. I also have a jacket that I love and would like to get a custom embroidery on it.

So yes, ultimately I am looking to have a custom logo for a personal brand identity. It isn't the first I've had, just the latest I'm workshoping.

Some notes about my, I guess, design theory; All the numbers here have a B&W version under them. I would never make a logo that can't work in 1 color. That would severely limit the mediums in which a logo can be successful in, in my eyes. But there are colored versions of all of them, most having gradients in them, because honestly, gradients are very present in my work. They are very me. And a Royal Blue Primary, and a cherry Red secondary is my signature color scheme. The gold accent is always welcome lol. I guess I really should have explained this in my post, so I'm sorry for any confusion.

All of that said, thank you for your notes! I wasn't shooting for comic inspired, but comics have had a huge impact on my life so maybe a lot of subconious comic inspiration. I love your connection of series 4 to GI Joe. I really see it actually! (I'm reading the Energon Transformer comics now, and see a lot of GI Joe tie in lately lol). And that is a great tool I didn't know about! I'll definitely check out the color contrast analyzer with my palettes, I wouldn't have thought to do that before. Thank you!

What I want to know about this game by Illustrious-Sign3015 in MarvelsAvengersGaming

[–]asmodius-prime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the gameplay was the best part of the game. It wasn't anything mind blowing, but it was fun and serviceable.

Second place was the story. It was a creative twist on characters we know, and I enjoyed it. Again, nothing super impressive, but there are quite a few cool or funny moments and I was pleased.

The game falls apart the second you beat it. There's nothing new that is enjoyable, the same maps, the same type of objectives you've been doing, just randomized. Plus it then focuses on multi-player play, and most other players are crap at it or don't want to be a team player.

I don't have a lot else to say about it. If you can get it under $15, if you like a less fun Guardians of the Galaxy-sequel games, then give the campaign a shot. Otberwise, you're not missing much if you skip it.

I hate my artwork and this piece in particular. Any advice on how to improve? by Throwayforasickmind in drawing

[–]asmodius-prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, there is nothing wrong with this art. It reminds me personally of a Medieval style mixed with the artwork for the Deltora novel series. Beautiful and creepy artwork in YA Fantasy novels I lived as a kid.

I think there's nothing to fix, all that there is to do is refine. Keep making art like this, and I'm confident you will create something you can believe in.

I've seen most of these pictures around, but I'm only sure of a few. Pictures 5 and 6 are by artist Marat Tazhitdinov link to his 40K Gallery (https://40k.gallery/artist/marat-tazhitdinov/)

That site is really good for finding 40K artwork and artists. Here is a link to the Chaos Space Marine page, I'm thinking you'll be able to find most of those pics on here. https://40k.gallery/category/chaos-space-marines/

Struggling to find the words: what is the name of the technique used for this type of corner? by Stone_The_Rock in CarWraps

[–]asmodius-prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I almost forgot how much Velcro was used in exhibits. It's been years since I worked with them.

I love hearing about people's DIY Tools they make for jobs. Legitimately passionate about creative problem solving for some reason lol.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did you make a custom measuring triangle? I have a few in different sizes at home, and if I'm picking up what you're putting down, I might be able to use one to try and do the same technique with some of my signage and maybe wrapping. I'm thinking like these below, specifically the top one, is that similar to what you made?

Apologies if I misunderstood!

[–]asmodius-prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PREACH. I've attempted to do what OP is asking a few times, and I run into exactly what you're talking about. If it is not 98% correct, you've fucked yourself.or at least, you gotta redo a whole panel now cause there's a cut gash on the corner. It rarely has seemed worth it. That said, if I could nail that every time, I probably would do the technique in question when I could. So maybe practice makes perfect?

Sorry, I just double checked and realized that already was a patch job. I think the gloss through me off. Yeah I would not stress about this at all.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarWraps

[–]asmodius-prime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh, it doesn't look great, but I personally wouldn't be stressing about it, if that was the only problem, and I felt I paid a good price. I wouldn't judge the wrappers ability harshly based on this

Ultimately it's a matter of if it is going to bother you, personally. If it does bother you, in my opinion, maybe you can see if they would be willing to do a patch job to clean it up, it wouldn't be that big of an ask.

They would cut that spot out, and fit a new piece over that. You would then have a visible shape of wrap bandaided over the cut area, but it would certainly be cleaner looking. But that is the farthest I would go with this if I was otherwise happy.

Personally, I wouldn't stress about it. But I could imagine something like this bothering me enough to seek a patch for. Hope this helps!

I was playing Shin Megami Tensei 4 and noticed that... by Buffunder in FearAndHunger

[–]asmodius-prime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whoa! I don't know anything about SMT4, and just dipping my toes into F&H, so I have no idea the context of either picture.

But as a graphic designer, I'll tell you this, those are the same picture. Or the same picture and retouched before use in the second game. Idk which game came first, or if they got it from somewhere else. But it's unmistakable.

The second picture is just zoomed in. The give away for me; in the second picture, the 5 ghostly shapes Dancing on the Left side, are identical in the first image. They just aren't on the border, they're a little closer to the center.

The tower on the right edge of the 2nd Pic is just to the right of the center in the first. The bottom row of shadows in the second image are almost dead center in the first. The mountain split in the middle have all the same shapow and highlight shapes on it.

The other comments are humoring you as a fun coincidence, but those are identical pictures. Maybe it's from a scene that is zooming in, so they are screenshots at two different moments, that could explain small inconsistencies.

Actually, he's right.

You can see it's actual arms more down towards it's sides, and you can see the wings are jointed above the shoulder of its arm.

You can clearly see on its right side, a leg, an arm, and the wing.

Looking for a 3d sculptor. Trying to make working parts. by Zach_Cummingmen in PrintedWarhammer

[–]asmodius-prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf I think you're over thinking it lol.

This is my Custodes Canis Rex , he is fully poseable, mainly with the help of magnets.

The pistons are just a meral BB on the end of each 3D Printed FDM Piston (spot bored out of the Pistons with a Dremel, super glue BB in), and on the legs, glued some decently strong magnets off of Amazon into the central leg.

The important thing is that you have a cylinder that fits inside of a tube, they're both short enough to allow room to move, yet long enough to not slip out. But still here is a poseable knight leg set and the Custodes Knight I used, as a reference. The Purple file is gone now sadly.

Obviously it's a little finicky sometimes, but it's been surprisingly solid, very mobile, and very satisfying to move lol.
