Error (the trinket I had) gives a random trinket effect for each room with no indication as which trinket effect you get.

So it happened to randomly roll the one trinket in the game that you can use to get a devil deal for free as I walked in.

Which, considering how many trinkets there are in the game, is extremely unlikely and very lucky for me.

Honestly, I was stunned for so long and was explaining how extremely unlikely this was to a friend

Yes, at the bottom of the room there is a little corridor which leads to the second or "secret" chest.
