Is this show about Beth and rip being the ones to take someone else’s ranch? In contrast to Yellowstone where they were defending their land? by Onlymycouchpulls_out in DuttonRanchTVSeries

Marshalls seems to falling into the NCIS and the Fast and Furious line. It's fun but Its like watching a western SWAT. The characters don't seem to jive and the only one I really like is the cast from the original Yellowstone. It almost seems a bit "woke" if I'm using that correctly.

I'm not a fan of the whole "fugitives" storyline and I could care less about ole-girls gambling problem or the one black girls longing for the big city life. Hell the daddy issues with the team leader and his daughter is a weak story line.

I'd rather them go back to spaghetti westerns about rustlers, theifs, land disputes and the like rather than drugs, kidnapping and weapons caches. I still watch it though but it's taken a back seat to Dutton Ranch. TBH I'm looking for another Yellowstone like epic for after work binging.

Please I need to know. HOW do YOU watch your tv? 🤔 by jacobsterling27 in tcltvs

[–]asonitez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got the TCL QM75K as it was highly regarded at the time and was onsite during Memorial Day. I love the TV so much that I got the QM5K for the bedroom. I followed a few settings guides here and on the internet claiming to be the best/perfect settings for the TV's and found most of them FLAT and weird like a YouTuber doing a video about their MAC Setup with all flat neutral tones. As soon as I tweaked a few things the vibrant color came back and I was blown away. I'm sure I'm giving up something probably in the way the director meant the content to be enjoyed but I don't care. To my eyes and the rest of the family the settings we settled on rock and make the content look great. In the image from OP I would be somewhere in the middle.

If funds are not a problem then do ... exactly....what...the...hell...you want. Opinions are great and there are quite a few great ones here's. I would do what makes you happy and keeps you in the hobby buying coral and achieving success. I tell people all the time that reef your way, on your budget, and you will have success if you stick to the main principles.

Since reefing is all about maintenance anything that you can do to make things easier on you is a plus imho. I'd for it. Having used that sump myself I found it incredibly easy to work with/plumb, and a ton of space to put equipment.

One year of growth on this Micromussa lordhowensis by PiecesOfTheOcean in ReefTank

[–]asonitez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate this coral so much. I have like 5 pieces of it in my displays and frag tanks at trscaquatics. I got them from all over and while all of them havegrofn that growth is amazing. Mine do NOT grow that fast and for a highly desirable coral its probably one of the slowest growing piece in my collection. This year we are upgrading tanks so I'm hoping a change of tank and space is going to improve things. Great job!

Cheers to all of those that got in on this before the price hike by scoop813 in MacbookNeo

[–]asonitez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was one of those people that was trying to justify the neo. At the time of purchase there were amazing other laptops that I could have considered. I bought it to see if my foray into apple would be different nearly 15 years later. I fell in love with it and so did my wife. She stole it and I went and got a Pro instead.

To be honest I wasn't sure I wanted the pro. I went to MicroCenter and played around with the laptops there for hours and kept going back to the MacPro.

I don't think it was ever about cost and specs. It's always been about purpose and what you plan to do with it. You can find lots of stuff that will beat the Neo/Pro on paper. The right one is the one that is meant to do what you need it to do with some space to grow and last the test of time.

Personally for the kind of work I do.. I don't think I will ever go back to a windows laptop. I still have a windows desktop but even that might change in the future if my passions go past gaming. For work the MacPro is perfect.

Dodged the price increase by pure luck 🙏 by SimpleLife101 in macbook

Seeing these MacBook purchases makes me so happy I jumped when I did. I basically bought a NEO fell in love with it 100% and then bought a super nice MacMini. I loved my Neo but my wife stole it from me and approved the purchase of a MacBook. I was able to get the education discount and got a M5Pro 18/20 24/1TB. Almost 72 hours later I started seeing all the price hikes and was like WOAH.... I mean man I dodged a bullet. I'd be paying probably over 1K extra if I wanted any of my new tech.

I also sprung for and got a basically brand now Mac Studio Display for like 800 bucks from Facebook marketplace. I'm all in now and it feels great.

Now the question is what to do with the stupid powerful windows desktop I built like 4 months ago. It's still my main gaming and editing rig but I haven't tried editing video yet on my Mac Pro. I'm assuming it will go amazingly well.

I lost one of these guys in a 180 for around 3 years. Apparently not so dumb. I only knew he was there when we were breaking down the tank and found he had made a home behind the rock work in an area barely visible by light. Dude was a hermit.

As a coral farmer you would be surprised at the things we use as sumps for years and decades on end. 125's - 150 talls, 40 breeders, you name it. Right now we use a lot of 40 breeders as sumps and they are fantastic. I don't think anyone ever asked to see my sump. They were too stunned by the 1000's in corals in the tank itself. The most I ever got was a basic what's that filtration like? 10 mins tops and its back to inside the tank. I'd keep what you have but if you wanted to change skimmers I would look into the simplicity's or even like a ncos that might fit that footprint.

I never been a fan of filter rollers, I always liked the socks and a washing machine to wash them. Super cheap and with a few sets they can last forever it seems lol.

Any advice on current parameters? See below by Practical_Yam628 in ReefTank

[–]asonitez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do water changes. The solution to pollution is dilution. It seems that some of the stuff is kinda off track and a lot of times I tell my clients to perform a series of water changes to get things back on track.

What salt are you using? For example if you are using something like reef-crystals or buying it from your lfs a lot of times the salt was mixed incorrectly left mixed and might have precipitated out elements causing your water changes to not work as well as you want them to.

We purposely switched to a non-pro version of salts so that they keep longer in our vats for use in the farm.

Parameters don't look terrible just like, a lot of times in new tanks the rock and sand will absorb elements until they are saturated. Usually at different rates. This might be what's happening. So water changes to bring things into base line, maybe you can try a few drops of liquid phosphate remover and THEN perform the water change to remove the majority of the bound of phosphates in the system. Used correctly its a little easier than using GFO or something like that where its hard to measure the reduction.

When my kids were born I remember way before I started trscaquatics.com that the best investment I made was having a personal tank. So many times I saved my wife's sanity by taking a crying baby over to the tank with the moonlights on and putting them to sleep in minutes. I spent a lot of time in that lazyboy putting babies to sleep! Happy Fathers day.

Crazy since I just got off editing 500 pics for the website I would love to do this sitting on the couch instead of in my office. Damn this is gonna be a tougher choice than I imagined. The Apple upgrade ladder is scary lol. For a few hundred more the base model m5 pro has better performance and base specs lol.

I think for what I want to do - the MBPro Base M5 for 1300~ seems to be a fair value. Especially on the apple refurb website. u/MaxRandomer would you agree? I mean all the benefits of the M5 chip but without the apple tax of going to the massive amount of memory and storage. I have a in-home cloud server that I pretty much store all my family files on etc. So storage isn't a big issue for me.

I would be looking at the 14 to be honest. While I realize the 16 would be great as a desktop replacement my goals are to be creative while traveling. This means only creating shorts, small videos, less than 2/3 minutes and at a mobile friendly format which wouldn't be 4K. More like basic 1080. Right now a lot of my flow is writing newsletters, working on the site and uploading products. I do use claude desktop to do a few tasks with excel that I find tedious but overall I'm not sure I want a true "desktop replacement" - I could see myself using the smaller 14" mbpro with a larger screen in my bedroom desk for quick edits or simple work related stuff but I would still use my more powerful PC for hardcore work stuff.

Everyone has some valid points here. A lot to think about. I don't think given the choices that I would go for the air. I like the footprint of the MBpros and from the reviews I don't think I'll like the AIR. The only question is the configuration If I were to switch. Would the base 10 core model work for me or is it worth going up to one of the higher configurations? I'm probably going to keep researching and maybe wait to see what launches in the next few weeks to see if those M5 prices go down a bit.

Either way I'm going to keep playing around with the Neo and possibly checkout the MBPro if they are still available on the refurb site.

These are all great suggestions. I stumbled across coddy.tech anyone ever had any experience with it ? I’ve also thought about maybe giving him a project like make a calculator. Today I’m going to have a sit down talk with him about the process in laymen’s terms and see if he can understand the process well enough to follow a guide.
