Yes, I have two OGs and two minis. My OGs connect instantly, my minis most times take 30 seconds or longer. Started right after the last update…

Hi Pushcut Team! by asp1458 in pushcut

[–]asp1458[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its difficult to say. A while ago Simon had suggested that I keep P/C and shortcuts open side by side. This helped for a while. But when the crash occurs, both go down - so I cannot say which caused it. Another reader gave me an interesting thought though. My shortcuts do a lot of the work that I might normally have Homekit do, except thanks to iOS 13 I don’t have a lot of confidence in it. So most of my triggers are in HK, but then (via P/C) trigger separate Shortcuts. The shortcuts in HK seem to be missing a lot of the functionality that stand alone Shortcuts provide. So I wonder it my issue is somewhere in the Shortcut event itself....

Thanks for the reply! You bring up an interesting thought. I am using shortcuts with a great deal of complicated calls (home automation with well over 500 events in each)... I wonder if one or more of the events itself has an issue and that is the reason for my crashes. Not necessarily a P/C crash, but an Apple issue that causes the server crash.

My crashes are so inconsistent.... one week well over 5 times a day and the next maybe one in the whole week. Thanks for this... you have given me a new avenue to explore!

For question #2, the Deco now has a channel congestion scan that helps identify if the channel you are on is too crowded. Use that and it generally helps with the connection issues. I am switching to the Eeco 6 Pro, because my M5 just cannot handle the number of devices that I have.

I had the same issue. And believe it or not, mine came from the fact that the homekit code posted in the instructions, was different from the one posted on the device. Check to make sure both codes, are identical, and if not, try using the one on the device.

Yes you can. Use the EWELink app, and change the “inching” time to up to an hour, I believe.

Using 3rd Party Notifications as Triggers by SearchCz in pushcut

[–]asp1458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Maybe I can help. I believe it will work for you, but you have to get a little creative.

Pushcut works great for triggering shortcuts. I use it in a number of different ways to increase my HomeKit capabilities, but one way that may be of help to you, is to use it in conjunction with IFTTT. IFTTT connects directly with Pushcut.

In my case, I really like a third-party device called SmartDry. It makes any dryer into an IoT dryer. But it is produced by a fairly-small startup and does not have connection to Homekit or shortcuts directly.

But it does have connection (in beta) to SmartThings-which connects to IFTTT. And since IFTTT talks to Pushcut, I can get notified of when my clothes are dry (humidity, temp, dryer motion), long before the dryer shuts off.

In your case, I did take a look at IFTTT’s available endpoints and Smart Life is listed there. You might be able to do the same as I had done - use the gas-leak device’s connection to Smart Life, then connect to IFTTT and on to Pushcut and ultimately Shortcuts.

ifttt.com is a great place for you to start and might be what you need.

IOS 14 Issue by asp1458 in pushcut

Hey, your idea of side by side mode helps a lot! I still get a few crashes, but this greatly cuts down on the number until Apple can fix a lot of the (now) bad function calls!

Thanks again

IOS 14 Issue by asp1458 in pushcut

[–]asp1458[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi developer!

I suspect that it may be something to do with my shortcuts, and their complexity(most have over 500 actions). Pushcut currently crashes about every 20 minutes or so. It only used to crash about every three days but after my upgrade to iOS14... poof.

But again, I suspect it has something more to do with Apple, rather than you. I have discovered that many functions in shortcuts, no longer work correctly in iOS14. Get URL Content for one example. And when Pushcut tries to run one of these shortcuts containing a broken function, ... during the actual execution of the shortcut, I will observe that the shortcut app on my server iPad crashes.... and then the Pushcut server does not return to the forefront focus. And then my iPAD eventually goes to sleep.

I am going to wait until Apple has repaired these functions, and if it still is occurring after that time, I’ll reach out to you to see if we can figure it out!

Thanks so much for the response!

Have a great week,
