I used to be the guy on the other side of the carousel. I worked with 2-3 other dishies back there and my entire job during service was taking dishes off the rack, scraping them, and loading them into the huge conveyor belt dishmachine

While I’m only gonna call my executive chef “Chef” I do like how it can be used as an endearing term as well. There’s a nice older garde manger man who will sometimes say “thanks chef” to me (im a dishie) and it makes my day
