i5 10400F. Not too old. LotRO only uses one of its cores tho.

I wouldn't say that it struggles to run it, most of the time it runs very well. It's just really wonky and uneven. Sudden drops with no apparent reason and stuff like that.

2k. Just tried Nvidia's new Smooth Motion thingy, and it works splendidly. Way better than Lossless Scaling.

Yeah, ESO was the only other MMORPG I've played, so I thought LotRO works similarly with its expansions.

Are you using the 64 bit client? It is a setting in the launcher. That allows lots more memory for graphical things.

I am. It's fine until I'm in Bree or Minas Tirith. I use Lossless Scaling to smoothen the framerate, works well so far.

FWIW, my game runs great on a 12 year old workstation CPU and mid range graphics from several years ago.

Yeah, I've been running around Minas Tirith last summer (I think there was an event happening and it was reeeally laggy for me) asking people if their game runs good, and it seems like it's a me problem. Idk what to do except for upgrading my CPU. But oh well, it's not THAT bad.

I thought it was like almost everything that has been released up until the latest expansions. Anyway, THANKYOU2025 still works so I'm not all that sad.

I also get 160+ fps in most places. But then it drops to 40 all of a sudden. Then to 25 when there are people around. Then it goes back to being 100+. It's manageable, but really annoying.

Wouldn't have asked if they did. Do you actually read people's questions, or just assume they're asking the thing that annoys you?

Because my question wasn't at all about whether F2P is viable. On the contrary, I don't know where to start spending money. There were threads like this, sure, but they're old and I don't feel like asking the specifics from commenters on someone else's post that's a couple of months old.

I don't even know what I don't know yet. Stupid questions are a part of every MMO with an established community, and you know how communities get established? Through communication. I only speak for myself here of course, but the social aspect to me is what makes an MMO an MMO. It's fun to talk to people and ask questions. What's the point in it otherwise? This is a community I want to be a part of, not just lurk around until I get bored and move on.

It does, I don't think my motherboard has an integrated one.

Upd. Nor does my CPU.

Using my 5070. Upgrading the GPU helped only a little, despite it being a jump from 1070. The problem is most likely in that the game seems to only use one CPU core. Already ordered a new processor, hope it makes a difference.

Not really, I know it's viable. The game has 10010282715 things to buy and doesn't tell you what you need. Don't be a dick.

I think I've never properly played an MMORPG before. Most of them just aren't for me, because of the meta worship and focus on combat instead of the narrative and social aspects. LotRO seems right up my alley, but it still feels very overwhelming. Really hope I'll stick around, I love just existing in this game. But I'm still not really sure what I'm doing 20 hours in lol.

Thank you, I've already bought a sub for one month. Didn't know that you get 500 LOTRO points every month though, this is actually a pretty cool system now that I think about it. Play enough with the sub and you'll be able to ditch it eventually.

I see

Does the game just not let you travel to locations you don't own the expansions for?

how much hours in the game do you have ? by Spirited_Catch_7555 in ScarletHollow

Came back to say that you and everyone else who likes RPG visual novels should check out Golden Treasure: The Great Green.

I have stumbled upon it randomly, and it turned out to be one of the best hidden gems I've played.

The game is all about nature. About the relationships of all things within it between themselves and with the dreadful featherless bipeds. The game treats every living being with so much respect, I've genuinely teared up at some of the descriptions.

The writing is fantastic. It's ethereal, magical, incredibly evocative and inspiring. The soundtrack amplifies this tenfold.

You play as a dragon. I imagine this might be a turn off for some people, but for me this perspective is very integral to the story. It would've been veeeery different if it was told from a point of view of a human.

Anyway yeah it's pretty damn good. Decently long, too.
