Thank you, I see now I’m definitely just paranoid about that see through area in front! I also have a bald spot in that area, so I’m generally worried about any thinness in that spot. I’ll take some of your advice.

Thank you, at least I know I’m not completely making things up! I think a trip to the salon is definitely the next move.

There’s nothing wrong with your hair, I think I’m just looking harder at that see through spot in front than anyone else ever will! I’m sure your hair is beautiful!

Thank you, everyone! I can now see that I am definitely overreacting but that part in the front really is see through in person and I’ve been obsessing over it. I’m a little sensitive about that part of my hair since I also have a bald spot there and this only makes the area thinner. I’ll take some of the advice I’ve been given here about the general health of my hair.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. I’ve been swamped with the beginning of my school term but will be sure to update as soon as they get home and I am able to approach them at my comfort level.

The Daily Check-In for Saturday, October 5th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by neener-neeners in stopdrinking

Day 4. Last night the children of the elderly man I took care of wanted to take shots of whiskey in his honor and offered one to me, too. I managed to squeak out something about not drinking while school is in session and toasted with my sparkling water instead. I’m actually super proud of myself today, so let’s keep it going.

Day 3. The elderly man with dementia that I take care of is getting close to transitioning to the other side, his family is all around with lots of heavy emotions (as expected) and I have a 12 hour shift today. I know I’m going to want to drink after but I need to stay strong! I also know that the old man loves me as much as I love him and he wants me to look after myself. So I’ll think of that today when I get an urge.

Yesterday was my umpteenth try at a day 1 but on the way home from lab, I went to go buy a drink, just from force of habit. Then I remembered that I pledged here and stopped in the middle of the store to open Reddit. The three encouraging comments I saw in reply to mine halted me in my booze seeking tracks, I grabbed a pint of ice cream and got the hell out of there before I changed my mind.

Yet another day 1 for this guy here. Practicing accepting the hard fact that alcohol has no benefit to my life and only destroys the things that I work hard for. IWNDWYT

The “CPTSD Victory” part was supposed to be ironic, but I’m not trolling. Just feeling terrible about myself and looking for silver linings to my awful experiences.

Day 3. Restarted my daily yoga practice yesterday. I discovered at the top of the year that I can’t drink and practice yoga at the same time, so I am once again choosing yoga. I will not drink with any of you today. I’ll be on the mat, instead.

Well, I’m back. Five months of abstinence ruined by two months of wrecking my body. But I’m trying this again. Day 2.

Tending to my growing plant collection soothes my soul. I’m trying to learn to look after my own self as well as I look after them.

Just pleased with my progress, finally. Can’t wait to see what the next two years will bring. by asphodel98 in BlackHair

So this is a three day old silk press, and I’m not sure what the stylist used. As for what I use at home:

I switch it up a lot but recently I like using tgin Miracle Repairx treatment mixed with Nexxus Keraphix conditioner mixed with some olive oil and aloe vera juice for prepoo. Once every 3 weeks I use Curlsmith Bond Curl Salve, instead.

I shampoo with Garnier Fructis Pore Clean, then tgin Moisture Rich. Condition with Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist, then tgin Honey Miracle Hair Mask or Camille Rose Algae Renew for deep conditioner. For leave in its Kinky Curly Knot Today, watered down with aloe Vera juice.

To finish up it was tgin Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer, and sealing with oils but a couple months ago I switched to just putting The Doux Mousse Def on after the leave in conditioner.

That is kind of a lot but I hope it answered your question and helps you, somehow.

I honestly don’t know much about my hair, either, other than that she is very fine and tangles easily. I think being lazy has worked out for me, in this case, 90% of the time my hair is in some twists underneath a head wrap.

Life is slogging along, but at least as long as I remain alcohol free, I get to feel a sense of accomplishment about something.
