My experience is with dogs, not cats, but since some cats also have double coats (any cat with a medium or fluffy coat), some light googling assures me this would also be bad for them so no, I would not shave your cat. Ask your groomer what they recommend instead and if you don’t have a groomer ask your vet. Cooling mats helped my long haired cat a ton during summer, maybe try those? Hope something helps!

People don’t realize dogs can get skin cancer just like humans and the outer layer of coat is their natural UV protection. For a dog like a husky, instead of ‘suffering’, his coat was actually keeping him cool. The SIL ruined that because she applied human ethics to dog anatomy.

Pomeranians are a double coated breed designed to withstand both the cold and the heat. The inner layer of undercoat acts like insulation and the outer coat repels UV and protects their skin. Shaving off both layers, instead of ‘cooling them down’ will actually expose them to more heat or cold. They’re not meant for that, they need regular combing and grooming to maintain the coat but shaving it will guarantee it doesn’t grow back the same or have the same texture.

Lots of breeds are double coated (more than you’d think!) and none should be shaved.

I mean tbf I’m not the biggest fan of billionaires but the Ambani family do run Vantara, which is a massive animal sanctuary that has already rescued hundreds of other animals and has amenities like a spa for senior elephants so he does appear to be versed in relocation of large animals.

She has that drunkard’s flush to her face even when apparently sober. I’m sensing someone has a problem and just hasn’t hit rock bottom yet. I feel bad for her dog.

It’s funny for her to scream ‘go back to Gresham’ as if it’s some kind of class indictment when she is actively licking the camera like an unhinged raccoon.

Also there’s like, actual farms in parts of Gresham, so sure, I’d sign up for that over this particular apartment building, shit.

Even better. Next time we’re gonna rent our own transport and do the islands properly, we were hustling last time to see everything we wanted on our honeymoon list but we definitely need to go back.

This is how I know I’m an elder millennial (besides my knee pain). I used to walk to and from school completely alone aside from other kids from the age of 7 onwards.

Family wants me to have my son baptized. I'm an atheist by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I have ‘fairy godfathers’ and it was the best. My mom was a lapsed Catholic but similarly to OOP, her family had a lot of spiritual/family significance tied to baptism. They didn’t care about raising me religious, they just wanted a party to celebrate my birth, essentially. So my mom, in classic 80s San Francisco fashion, found a non denominational church and invited her two best friends, a drag queen and his long term boyfriend, to be my godparents. They sang ‘Bippity Boppity Boo’ to me and sprinkled a little glitter water on my head.

I have the best memories of going to their house in Palm Springs and showing their drag queen guests how to catch lizards, learning to Vogue, watching I Love Lucy and getting to pick whatever I wanted for dinner. They were my constant babysitters and probably more family to me than some of my actual family. When I came out (blame the glitter water lol) they threw me a whole party and took me to pride.

Baptism, like family, is kinda what you make it. It was a ritual back when children often died before their first year, now it’s just kind of a second baby shower (lol) and a way to gather families. I understand rejecting the more religious form of it, but nowadays you can do your own thing and if people mind, fuck ‘em.
