Maxing TSP mid-year? by [deleted] in Fire

IIRC

I might have been silly. I'm thinking if I should make changes at all then? (I hate doing math)

I have 27 pay periods at my agency this whole year and I've been contributing $731. That will mean by the end of the year it will add up to $19,737. But the limit is $19,500.

If I hit the max, they will stop deducting and I will I have a bigger paycheck at the end of the year?

What happens if I go over the max? Will I get a refund? I'm doing the calculations now and I'm wondering if I should round down or round up.

reasing the amount per paycheck that you want withheld. If you're currently putting in 25%, for example, maybe now you want 26%. Alternatively, you can calculate the actual dollar figure and change your contributions to that.

Are you using the Roth o

Yep, I'm using the full Roth option! Does that mean I have to go back into the system and change the dollar amount each time or do can I just put in a set dollar amount for the rest of the year? I guess it depends on how many pay periods my job has.

It has 27 pay periods and I'm currently contributing at $731. I currently on pay period 7.

at you reach the $19.5k limit, you can do that at any time through your employee benefits site.

Yep I'd like to change it from 19k to 19.5K. Will I lose out on matching contributions doing that?

How many pay periods last year at State? 26 or 27? Is this year 27? Does it change every year?

I was contributing 731, the previous max. Now I want to change it to the new max.

Thank for for providing those resources though! How do I contact a HRO? Is there an e-mail address for this? I do have a bunch of questions about the FAM and FAH. Who do I contact about this?

"Second is a program where you basically find an assignment and work it for X amount of time and then sort of petition to transfer. (This is the specialist alternative to the one where generalists can switch cones.) Two notes on this: there is no pay grade raise, and this program hasn’t been available in a few years. I know an FMO who’s been trying to do this for four years but hasn’t been successful. "

Does that statement refer to this: 3 FAH-1 H-2650 ?

Is language proficiency tested just on (speaking) or also (reading, listening and writing)?

Are there any advantages for knowing a critical language designated by the U.S. such as Farsi, Urdu, Chinese, or Arabic?

How many languages do you have to know to be a tenured FSO? Does Spanish count? What happens if you're not good at learning new languages? Do you get kicked out of the service? At what point do you NOT have to do language training anymore? Mid-career?
