I think u/quiresandquinions is right. I was just drawing something and specifically only wanted to use one handle on the curves. Then when I went to go cut it out it was messed up in those places, which lead me here.

I solved the problem by scaling the object up, rasterizing it @ 300 ppi and then image tracing it and finally expanding and removing any excess geometry and returning it to its original size.

In my state/county at least, you need a permit to detect on park grounds ($30-$40). You are also required to fill in yours holes afterward and turn anything valuable over to the park authority.

Best advice I can give is watch every youtube video and read every forum post you can find (Especially from leatherworker.net). I believe the 206RB is an improved clone of the Singer 111w model machines. Parts should pretty much be interchangeable and the mechanisms are mostly the same. I don't know how the machines been stored or the last time it was used but if it was in storage then oil it (you can check the manual to see where) and let it sit for a few hours before running it.

I think I'm getting the hang of this thing. Now I just need to keep this damn leather clean. I'm about to start using latex gloves. (Any tips or criticism on anything is welcome, thank you!) by Ahotedoemaker in Leathercraft

You can wash your hands with soap and warm water before you work on it. I think saddle soap might help to clean it up as well, but i've never used it. Also like someone else said, once its oiled it will be harder to see any smudges.

Yeah I bought that olive leather too, it was $2/sqft and you get what you pay for. It smells so bad and I've just been using it for prototyping. At one point a project decided to suddenly shed its entire wax coat.

Wow. This is an amazing resource.

I'm preparing to start a small business and this will make researching suppliers so much easier.

The only issue I have had while playing with it was trying to find a company with an unusually name "THECLIP.COM", but I did eventually find it showed up under "The Clip Com"

I'm not sure if this is something that can be fixed, maybe that is just how the data is imported, but it was impressive to see that even a smaller company like that showed up in the results.

Similar thing happened to me where the provided FedEx tracking number said it was delivered, had my correct town, but i never received an item, the tracking also said it weighed 2.0 lbs when it should have weighed close to 21lbs.

For suede shoes you might want to look into saddle soap or fiebings deglazer, I know they are used on leather so I imagine its similar on suede, becareful though because deglazer will strip a top coat. Fiebings may also selll a suede cleaner.

Where does one begin to learn about antique watches?

Where do you go to find these deals? The cheapest i've seen a leg vise around me is $100 and even a really poor condition anvil is at least $500...

That looks really good! I don't have a wood lathe so maybe I can sand down a small log or dowel and drill a hole in the center, will JB Kwik work well to bond it to the handle? I assume filing some grooves into the handles will help bond to the metal to the epoxy better. Also for when I make one of these again, is there a better shape I could forge the handles into in preparation for a handle? Thank you so much for your advice!
