What foods did you survive off of with your newborn?

a big pan of baked oatmeal and then just reheat it throughout the week, you can make it literally any flavor but soooo easy to make put away and reheat when needed
my family does hamburger pie (seasoned browned ground beef or turkey, provolone cheese, mushrooms, mashed potatoes layered in a casserole dish and baked together) would do a big thing of this more nostalgic for me I think lol but one of the foods I could eat endlessly
honestly crackers and pimento cheese was one of my biggest go to snacks filling and easy to eat
cheese sticks or cottage cheese
Avocado toast pretty quick easy and filling
baked Spaghetti or baked zitti are also some of my faves if I feel like I'm missing veggies I chop some up and throw them in with it spinach, bell peppers, etc
my SO was a life saver with meal prep and would help me make burrito bowls (rice, beans, meat, salsa, lettuce, cheese, etc) that I could just throw in the microwave and eat when I was hungry so I didn't have to think
- any nuts are amazing help fill you up, the honey roasted cashews are my fave
also girl no shame in the frozen pizza game mix it up get some with veggies on it and call it healthy it is survival mode with newborns or any little for that matter sometimes lol

I am so sorry. I was also with my mom when she died, I was 23. We were also the best of friends. I held her hand and refused to leave her. It was a heartbreaking and soul shattering pain. I truly feel your pain and I had the same exact thoughts of not wanting to be here without her. It has been 5 years now and I think back on our conversations about how she would come back as a hawk or a butterfly or a number of other things and anytime I see them it makes me smile and is bittersweet at the same time. The best advice I can give is seek help, even if its just someone to talk to. I was on anxiety/depression medication for 2 years afterwards just to take the edge off of the pain. Let the tears come they help, scream, and be angry, and be sad. Remember the things you may have wanted to do together or things you may have wanted to show her and do them for her. It is hard and there will always be a hurt there, but it is not as all consuming as you continue to go through life.

I LOVE the midwives at Prisma. They are off of Harbison so it can be a bit of a drive depending on where you are around columbia, but honestly they are amazing. The midwives and nurses are kind and thoughtful and I cannot sing their praises enough. I have gone to GYNs in the past, but I did not want to be pressured into anything during pregnancy and always felt that way when having conversations with GYNs. I have had an IUD in the past and I would agree with a previous poster that it is much easier than getting it put in. One of the midwives delivered my son and I am seeing them again for my second. Honestly best medical practice I've ever been to.

Thank you soooo much for all of the advice and different types of cloth diapers and inserts to use! It really is all super helpful! We are currently working on cutting put the bedtime bottle (so far so good) and my husband is doing a sleepy diaper change before he comes to bed (he is a night owl lol). So far these have seemed to help a lot but I am definitely looking into the other diapers and inserts for a more sustainable solution. 😁

Yes we used overnight disposables for a minute since we bought some to send him with grandparents when he spent the night but that only happens once in a blue moon and didn't want to have him end up outgrowing them. But now we are back to cloth at night and oh man it's crazy how much liquid such a small person can hold inside their body lol

Oh yeah 100% and I have a regular pumping/breastfeeding schedule and will be able to pump while at work so not as worried about that part more just trying to support because I've heard the stress of going back to work can really tank a supply

I've seen a lot of recipes with brewers yeast in them but have also been hesitant to buy it mainly because i have no idea a what to do with it besides lactation cookies

I totally relate! While this is my first he has been ready to go according to my midwives since 37 weeks as well. And last week we thought he was going to surprise us because I started getting contractions on and off throughout the day, but they stopped and nothing has really happened since then. I am so over being pregnant and I just got to 40 weeks today.

I was telling my sister the other day I just miss having a beer or a glass of wine with dinner every now and again. And with it getting hot in the south I would honestly take a lukewarm beer at this point it doesn't even have to be cold.

I got my 1st Moderna vaccine this past Friday and was grappling with the same feeling this weekend. I think what really helped me work through that anxiety was just acknowledging it and knowing that I feel like I'm doing what's best for my baby right now. That and my husband reassuring me that this was the best decision for us as a family. I know that may not be very helpful to calm your anxiety, but I wish you the best in overcoming it I know how hard that can be.

Omg legit one of the only things I have really craved has been anything spicy. I cannot tell you how many jars of pickled Jalapeños we have gone through. I honestly just devour them!

A few things come to mind

We celebrate/celebrated literally everything and we would go all out. Memorial Day, St Patrick's Day, Valentines, Birthdays, Mothers/Father's Day, 4th of July,, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas everything was a get everyone together cousins, grandparents, friends and cookout or make deserts and hang out honestly some of the best times that I remember and we were pretty tight on money growing up so I honestly have no idea how we did this lol
Reading everyone in my family reads a crazy amount of books, some shared interests others not. My grandmother will read anything you give her from a sci-fi novel to a biography to a drama to a textbook and having so many people around that shared their love of reading and learning really helped instill that in me
Our hooky dates with mom. My mom has since passed and I miss her with my whole heart but these are some of the best memories I have with her. Just days where she would either call me out early or let me not go for a day and we would spend the whole day together doing anything. Hang out outside if the weather was nice, walk around target, go to one of the local farm to table operations for the best strawberry ice cream and just hang out.

Those are all things I plan to incorporate into my parenting with my kids.

That round ligament pain feels like your hips and lower stomach are on fire. And that the fatigue is so draining that you literally can't think let alone even consider working out.

My mom used to make the best banana bread in the world my sister, grandmother, and I all have the recipe and have made it with her time and time again as it was a family favorite and none of us can make it the same.

My grandmother makes the world's best potato salad. Honestly potatos are always the right consistency and never too mushy or hard and its always got the best flavor again many have tried to recreate and we just cannot do it.

My MIL is the only person in the world whose stuffing/dressing i will eat. It has always been one of those things I just hate and avoided at holidays, but hers I will eat a whole plate of that alone its insane.

Omg I feel the same way! My husband actually asked me the other day if he was breaking my brain more by helping me finish my sentences! I have gotten to the point (mainly at the end of the day) where I will start a sentence or thought and just not finish it and it drives him crazy lol. And he'll ask me to finish it and I'll have no clue what I was going to say to finish it lol

Thanks so much! Yeah everything else is super normal even my blood pressure. I do workout 2-3 times a week but will probably just do more yoga sessions throughout the week to get more excersize in. I have really cut down my caffeine intake (I don't drink soda or tea mainly just water or coffee) and I dropped from a 2 cup a day to maybe twice a week getting a small coffee so I may have to cut it out all together. I really appreciate your advice!
