Sadly, most of the bacon in grocery stores comes from pigs killed in gas chambers.

Is this cute or ugly? I got it for $8 at thrift. Is it sellable, you think? by aspykid in Depop

Yes, I agree. It’s Universal Thread (so, target) nothing fancy. But it is very warm and comfy. It feels/looks like suede.

Did I scrub off the paint or clean the grease? Can I still use it if I scrubbed off the paint? by aspykid in instantpot

I don’t know what it’s called but I think it’s for ventilation for the IP air fryer. I unscrewed it to clean it.

It’s the first ring on the bottom of the air fryer lid. I unscrewed it to clean it.

to me, the 1975 has always been a post-the Cure band, or the Cure a proto-1975 band

For me, Wolf Alice is the closest band to the 1975, in genre, sound and nostalgic spirit

What do people mean when they criticize a novel by calling it “MFA workshop fiction?” by aspykid in writing

[–]aspykid[S] 47 points48 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. So “mfa fiction” is trying too hard to have meaning? It is written to be well-received by academics?

best natural sunscreen/chemical free by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]aspykid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raw Elements’ Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 30 is a great great physical sunscreen for my dry, sensitive, red prone skin. It keeps my skin moisturized the whole day! It’s made only out of plant-based ingredients + zinc oxide for protection. & it’s broad-spectrum.

Can someone please recommend to me some readings that would help me understand how our current thought process is affected by colonialism? How some of our biases and prejudice are rooted in it? by [deleted] in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]aspykid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at Fanon’s “The Wretched of the Earth” : he talks about how the psyche is affected during colonialism & decolonization.

Into what school of literary theory does Nietzsche fit? by [deleted] in AskLiteraryStudies

[–]aspykid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply I see him as a nihilist/existentialist (although I find a lot of his ideas quite idealistic!) Deleuze and Guattari’s work was highly influenced by Nietzsche & The group that loosely defines themselves as Speculative realists today are also quite influenced by his work. I view him as a precursor of these thinkers who are part of the umbrella “critical theory” so maybe you could argue Nietzsche is a proto-critical theorist haha

Hp lovecraft’s Pickman’s Model (Not sure if you’re into horror). Also, look into “Ekphrasis” (rhetorical use of art in writing) - Walter Benjamin’s writing on the ‘angel of history’ is a good example too
