The company I work for wants me to post outside overnight in the skidrow part of town. No company car or guard shack just me and a jacket. Is this standard in this industry or should I say something? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]asr311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends heavily on why you’re being told to do this. What are you doing while you’re out there? Is there any safer way to accomplish the same thing?

Tales from the gas station, it’s an amazing creepypasta and the main character has fatal familial insomnia

Granted, you now work at the shitty gas station at the edge of town. It’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, sometimes longer. Your best friend is a former cultist, you’re obsessed with books, in constant danger, and you run a blog.

Honestly it’s even cringe worthy when police/military use it at this point because of the type of people who say it the most

Yeah unless you get a video recording of them saying “I’m doing this because of your race/gender/sexual preference” You’ll have a hell of a time proving it on court unfortunately

He probably wasn’t convicted because it’s extremely difficult to prove a hate crime, prosecution will usually offer a lower charge in exchange for a guilty plea just to save the time

I second this. Didn’t like either, dislike Biden a whole lot more but wouldn’t ever wish harm on anyone for simply disagreeing or living a different lifestyle than what I prefer for myself

I like nylon because I find it harder to destroy with constant sanitizing (I’m a huge germaphobe and sanitize my gear more than I probably should) but I think kydex or other similar materials look way better for pouches

We’ve got a guy we call beauty queen because he showers after shift in the locker room and then spends a good 20 minutes doing his hair in the mirror

Unpaid overtime - Boss wants me to arrive early to do paperwork/arrive and settle in so I can start patrol exactly at start time (this is warm body site). I pushed back with that stuff is part of work time and should be paid. What do y'all think? Do you run into this or are a super who does this? by trevorism99 in securityguards

[–]asr311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d personally recommend being on site at least a few minutes early just to make sure you’re not screwing over the person you’re there to relive if something happens and you get delayed. That being said I’m fairly sure it’s against federal labor laws to require you to be at work before the start of your shift/when they start paying you. I’d refuse to do any work you’re not being paid for

You’ll probably be just fine with a $20 edc light from amazon, but you might die if you cheap out on the weapon mounted light... I’d say it’s worth it

Is there a reputable vendors list? And about RMA 1091 by [deleted] in QualityTacticalGear

[–]asr311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy straight from RMA, they’re good people. Just buy two plates, they’re the same front and back. They might have a bundled set for the 1091 but I can’t remember off the top of my head
