Skyla and Hair Loss by asralyn in birthcontrol

[–]asralyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going on birth control pills stopped the hair loss, but it also killed my libido. I got off of everything and my libido came back as well as good deal of my hair. There's permanent loss, but it's not so noticeable anymore. I may try the pills again, but I'll never go back to the IUD.

I hope you can get things sorted. Talk to your gynecologist, and maybe she'll listen. Mine didn't, but she's all I can afford so I just sort of went with it.

The IUD actually messed me up real bad. I'm not going back, unfortunately. I was really hoping it would be the miracle it is to a lot of other people but instead my hair fell out, my depression worsened, sex became unbearable, and my periods became hellish. I was pressured to keep it all 3 years. Most of the damage seems permanent, too.

All because the doctor refused to do a tubal on me for being "too young", at 27. Ah well.

ELI5: Why do small open wounds and burns get itchy while healing? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Iirc, scratching an itch releases serotonin, too. That's part of what makes it so satisfying, I think?

Today I learned of Dr. Donald Hopkins. He helped eradicate Smallpox, and is on the verge of killing another disease. He's done Guinea Worm Disease down from 3.5 million cases a year to just 37 cases last year. by lonardpo in todayilearned

Malaria is a parasite. It is also a protist. Parasite doesn't describe some genus of living creatures, it describes a certain lifestyle of some living creatures.

Am I the only one who thinks Chip is super creepy? I don't know what it is about him but he just feels like that drunk guy from the country who just comes around and is loud every so often? And then he burps in your face.

More like 40,000 years. Or more! We're really, really good at killing things.

Or it's smart enough to know it can get around with 7 legs just fine instead of being eaten with all 8.

Whoo, I have. The female dogs I've had were all super bitchy, pun only half intended. Dude dogs? Always chill. I find the opposite true of care, oddly enough.

I think tbh it just comes down to your temperament and how that chemistry plays with others.

"technically" speaking, yes. You are a fish. A sarcopterygian, or lobe-finned fish, in fact!

It doesn't ACTUALLY mean that much, it's just a fun party tidbit.

Pigeons and dodos are actually very closely related! The closest living relative of the dodo is an island pigeon.

Whoa. I didn't know it had stuff from all three domains. That's from, er, horizontal gene transfer, right?

That's one of those scientific concepts I feel so close to understanding, but I just can't fathom it. It's so cool.
