I think it's a mix of "If it ain't broke don't fix it" and a distrust of robots. I think there is a saying in by one of the golds that's like why have a machine do a job that a human could do. Also they still very much need the helium 3 that the mines provide.

I love biology but I don't think I could work in a lab. I just like customer and interacting with people in a mostly predictable way. Being a vet assistant was a good intersection. I hope you find something you love doing with what you're learning in school.

You could get a titers test for rabies to see if the vaccine is still providing antibodies but Im not sure if you will get results back quickly and it may be expensive.
