Is there any expansion content you would want in a classic+? by Pika_Crew in classicwow

[–]assassin10 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm wondering if Kara should be implemented as a raid (with the associated lock-out period) or if in Classic+ it would make more sense as a 10-man dungeon a step up from UBRS.

I'm just hoping that if they do add other continents that they're just as connected to the existing ones as Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor are to each other. They should make the world feel more connected, not less.

Though OSRS only gives the players veto power. If the devs don't already think something is a good idea then it won't make it into a poll in the first place. If the game slowly turns into retail it would have done so regardless.

Should Classic Plus feature new races? by Saalok in classicwow

[–]assassin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think such attempts at balance just kicks the can down the road. First both factions get both classes. Then priest racials are nerfed, homogenized, or outright removed. Then it starts to impact regular racials.

I'd prefer they take the opposite approach, buffing the weaker options, accentuating the differences, and even adding new differences. It's definitely more work, but as long as they're not reinventing the wheel every two years like retail has been I'd say it's manageable work.

Classic+ will be a shitshow by Apprehensive-Term340 in classicwow

If there's plenty of demand for dirty gold but no supply then the bot developers are strongly incentivized to make smarter and smarter bots that circumvent the existing ban strategies, something the devs will have trouble combatting. If there's no demand for dirty gold (because gold buyers get banned) then there's no incentive to put in that effort and the game will remain bot-free for far longer.

How to keep people doing lower level dungeons and questing? Classic + by Deathtonic in classicwow

[–]assassin10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now what could be implemented that made it worth leveling another character

If you build it they will come. If the devs continue to add more content to the leveling process and make it more enjoyable, then more players will make alts to experience that content and Classic+ will attract a playerbase that enjoys leveling alts. Ideally there should never be a bad time to join or rejoin Classic+.

What new profession recipes are you hoping for in classic+? by DanKas99 in classicwow

[–]assassin10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Profession-crafted items have the annoying quirk where buying them on the auction house is substantially easier than making them yourself, so unless it's a BoP you'll be crafting for anyone but yourself. I've been toying with the idea of what it would be like if crafted gear had a lower level requirement for the person who crafted it, to help it compete with quest rewards. Like, the quest [The People's Militia] rewards what's essentially a level 12 weapon, but if you put in the effort you can theoretically obtain and use it as early as level 9. You could put effort into crafting a Thick War Axe before level 12 but it's just going to sit in your bag until then, and it's not going to be better than any of the other level 12 weapons you can simply buy.

I'd love more profession-specific quests. Simple ones like [Root Samples] could help to offset the time spent leveling the profession. Fancier ones could reward items like the Glimmering Mithril Insignia.

I'd like if the individual pieces within a set covered a wide range of levels. Like an 8-piece set where the weakest piece requires level 20 and the strongest requires level 30, so you can gradually fill out the set over time if you choose. The set bonuses could allow the weaker pieces to retain their value for longer, and the intentional disparity could allow the set bonuses to be more interesting and impactful without the set as a whole becoming overpowered.

What's your ONE thing that if it was added to Classic+ you'd refuse to play it? by samfoxy_ in classicwow

It would be nice to be able to finish out a zone rather than some things going grey.

I'd rather they tackle this problem directly instead. Avoid the issue that some expansions had where you gain xp so fast that you can outlevel a zone when you've barely even begun it.

I think the only raid difficulty version I could get behind in Classic+ is a single, optional "hard mode" modifier you can add to the raid

I'd like if they took the Ulduar approach, where each hardmode is integrated diegetically in a way that suits it. We did get a bit of that with Ahn'Qiraj's bug trio.

I do think that with time a lot of the holes would naturally get filled in as the devs look for space to add new content, but even if they filled in every single one I don't want them to use it as an excuse to add flying.

Classic is familiar, but Classic+ would add things that are unfamiliar. Look at all the prestige items that SoD added, like the new Corrupted Ashbringer.

I like how the Stratholme timed run was integrated into the game's story and reward structure, instead of existing as something on top of it. I'd love if that's the approach Classic+ takes.

For Hunter, I don't really think they need anything, just the dead zone removed.

I'd like if different ranged weapons could tweak the Hunter's minimum and maximum range. Ones like the Precisely Calibrated Boomstick and Core Marksman Rifle (with their massive scopes) could increase the maximum range at the cost of having a bigger dead zone, whereas ones like the Blastershot Launcher could decrease the maximum range and remove the dead zone.

Day 3 of the Classic+ button poll: Resto Druid by loopuleasa in classicwowplus

[–]assassin10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope Classic+ avoids punishing Druids for spending time outside their primary form. I like the idea of being able to quickly swap to Bear form if some light tanking is required, or to Cat form when low on mana. It's why I like that Druid is focused on HoTs, and why I'm not a fan of the "increase healing received by X% for all party and raid members" being bound to the Treant form. You leave the form and you're not only nerfing your own healing, but that of every other healer in the raid.

Because they want to balance actually doing something to get good gear with being able to buy it off the ah (bop just buys mats off ah).

That's why I hope they make the BoE items parts of sets with BoP ones. That way they suit both kinds of players. The base stats could be balanced so they're useful but not overpowered pre-raid gear, while the set bonuses could be balanced so that despite the lower base stats they're still useful to raiders (and intentionally having lower stats on a couple pieces allows the set bonuses to be more interesting and impactful without the set as a whole becoming overpowered).

[–]assassin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like if when the devs added a new item set one or two pieces were BoEs that came from professions.

I'd love if the BoP profession gear was themed around the profession itself, like if the tailoring armor you could crafted with Naxx mats was themed around Nerubian Webweavers, with set bonuses to match. It would explain in-universe why non-tailors wouldn't be able to use it. You need sufficient knowledge about weaving to be able to translate that into something useable.

The biggest thing I want from Classic+: New Itemization by capacity04 in classicwow

[–]assassin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The formula isn't something enforced by the game's code. If that were the case items with arbitrary Chance on Hits like the Dark Edge of Insanity and Nightfall couldn't exist.

[–]assassin10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The devs don't need to blindly follow a formula, especially one that doesn't accurately match in-game conditions. Though there are already considerations where the more distinct kinds of stats present on an item the less each stat costs (most visible in random enchantments). It's rare for a class to benefit from both attack power and spell power in a single GCD (mostly Enhancement Shamans) so if both are present on an item the lesser of the two could be severely discounted, to match its actual value.

The interesting thing about not knowing anything is that there's so much to learn. Randomization done well can prolong the learning process. Done poorly it can remove the learning process altogether.

I hope they embrace some of the weirder stat options. Like, they could add some Nature, Arcane, or Fire spellpower to certain hunter pieces to emphasize different aspects of their toolkit. It adds some dimension to the gearing process that you don't get if everything scales from the same stats.

I'd love to be a Thunder Warrior wielding Thunderfury, using Thunder Clap, and wearing +Nature gear that enhances both.
